  1. Is the 50mg smaller than the 100 series reels? Kinda like the 100s are smaller than the 200s?? Is that how they get that chronarch that light??
  2. Too bad it wasnt the 2500 :-[ 5000 too big
  3. I heard alot of good things about this stuff on a saltwater board. Dont see why it wouldnt be good for freshwater too? Any you guys used it? What did you think?
  4. I had a feeling you meant spinning. Might want to clarify that in your other thread unless you are really talking about spincast there
  5. Are you talking about spincast reels or just plain old spinning reels. I am surprised no one asked you to clarify yet. I actually like spincasters but they are nowhere near the quality of a decent spinning reel or baitcasters, sure you can catch fish on them but pretty sure no half way serious bass fisherman uses them. If you are serious about fishing I would think you would at least want a good spinning reel. Then you can mees around with baitcasters.
  6. I am sure you can get longert handles but not sure if they make em long enough to make it feel like a spinning reel. I am the same way reel left handed on spinning reels and right handed on baitcasters.
  7. Well, not exactly. One is a Shimano, the other is not. : I had a feeling you would chime in about Shimano But this isnt a which brand do you like better thread. I want to know from the guys who have actually used both which they prefer. I guesss there is No wrong answer, as they are both good reels.
  8. Thanks I did search a few pages. I overlooked That thread title as I was only looking for STX or Curado.. Looks like either will be fine. I like the fact that it seems to be the opinion that the STX will cast lighter lures farther which is a huge plus if you ask me. Other than that it seems to be a toss up.
  9. Thinking of gettig another baitcaster and going the highspeed version. Good deals on these 2 at the moment with $60 the Curados and I believe the Revos come with a free jacket ($60 value) not that I need it. Anyways what would you guys get. I hear alot of good things about both. I love my citica so should I just stick with Shimano?
  10. How many of you guys dont use the brakes at all or very minimul at best? I have a citica and have been practicing with various settings with the VBS. Seems I can cast fine with just 1 of the VBS brakes engaged with no problems. But once I try to go with none is when I get backlash hell. I can definetly tell you would be able to cast much farther though once you master it. Just not sure if I will ever be able to?

Yep great fight. I almost went to bed, glad I didnt
  12. SanDiego Jam knot has worked well and is easy to tie. http://www.proknot.com/Fishing_Knots/fishing_knots.html
  13. I have a shumacher ship to shore charger. Its like a $50-60 charger and was wondering should I be leaving this thing on all the time? Its what I have been doing but this unit never shuts down and the fan is going constantly and I am worried the charger is gonna burn out prematurely.
  14. I have a 12' pelican jon boat and am thinking of getting a newer used 5,6,7,or 8 hp motor over the winter. Right now I have a old 60s evinrude 3hp and want to upgrade. I have read all the pros and cons to both but dont have any experience with the newer 2 and 4 stokes. Are the 4 strokes much less powerfull, are they that much heavier, more parts to break, more expensive to fix?? I was leaning towards a 4 stroke cause they run cleaner and quiter and dont have to mix gas. But I am starting to think a newer 2stroke may be the way to go??
  15. I think I have it narrowed down to the Eagle FishEasy 320C Color Fishfinder or the Hummingbird 565. So first of all which would you go with. Seond of all I dont really know anything about how to mount or run them. Do they run on regular household batteries or hook up to your marine battery? This is going on a 12 Pelican jon boat so mounting it is another queston. Dont really want to be drilling hole i my boat so what are the mounting options for the unit and also the transducer??
  16. Whats a firm tip mean? I thought that kinda went hand and hand with action? If not how do you tell a firm tip rod?
  17. Alright then tell me what YOU would use each for? There has to be a lure or specific situation extra fast, fast , medium, mod.. etc.. is meant to be used for right??
  18. I am no expert by any means but have seen your question posted a few times and I would say most would recomend a medium or medium heavy power and fast action for an "all around" rod. Length is a personel preference but 6'6 or 7 should fit the bill. If you have a Dicks near you see if they have any St Croix Avids as they are blowing them out at $75-99 which is a steal for a rod that is usually $160 and highly regarded. There a a few good deals on reels as well. Cabelas has the Abu Revo S for under $100 shipped and you can usually find a shimano citica fairly cheap if you look, which is another highly regarded reall for the money.
  19. I read the sticky and RW does a pretty good job sumarizing both but I am more interested in what specific lures are best suited for each action? Like what should you be using for an xtra fast rod, what lures for a fast rod etc....?? And what do you think is more important Power or Action?
  20. Well if that was the deal of the century then I got the deal of the millenium!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 of the Dicks sporting goods near me had the Avids on sale at $99 ;D Needless to say I have a nice new Avid spinning rod and a baitcastin rod ;D ;D Woohoooooooooo
  21. I just picked up 2 Avids 1 spinning and 1 baitasting. Dicks had them on sale for $99 ;D So I couldnt pass that up. If you have a Dicks near by worth checking it out.
  22. Any particular model you guys are talking about? Cause doesnt Cabelas have the SC (I think thats it) for like $91 shipped?? Reguraly $129 plus shipping?
