Backlashes
Oh I certainly need more practice but usually manage just fine. I have the brakes at about half and always adjust the tension knob so the lure falls and the spool stops. Just want to know really if it is common that the backlashes in Flouros backlashes tend to run deeper than braids. The flouro seems alot jumpier of the spool and maybe thats why it tends to go deeper

Hell ,I can do that!! NOT!!!!
Why dont alot of those saltwater caster have a level wind thingy or whatever there called, so they dont have to use your hand??? That is some crazy poop though

Backlashes
I am no expert with baitcasters to say the least. I get a handful each tiime I go out usually cause I try to cast to hard or too far. But my question is. I have a Citica spooled with braid and a Steez spooled with Sunline flouro. Now I took the Steez out the other day for the first time since I got it and got a couple minor backlashes and man they run way deeper than any backlash I got on the Citica with braid. I had to pull and pull to get it out. It wasnt that it was all tangled, the line just comes real loose a long ways down. With the braid usually a few picks and a few pulls and its out! Is this common with Flouros and monos over Braids? This is the only Flouro I have ever used and I know its clainmd to be the best among alot of you guys. And I will say I was very surprised at how nice it casted and felt. Very managable felt almost like mono. I had it i my mind that flouro was stiff and wiry but this is not the case with this line. But the backlashes are kinda a PIA over braid if you ask me

Reel Help!
You say you were messing around with it? Did you break it? Citica is a great reel. If its truly broken I would just return it and get another.

Here are the new twins...
looks like both 6:2:1 if you look at the drag star area. Those are nic looking reels. Are they worth the money over a Curado or MG7 or MG50??

Question about my new bait caster
I think one reason alot of us that cast it right handed then switch to reel it right is cause we are right handed. Why not do both with your dominate side? For some reason reeling a baitcaster just never felt comfortable reeling lefty for me. I switch hands just before the lure hits the water and it doesnt hamper me one bit, even with buzzbaits I can get them going as soon as it hits the water. Just do what you are most comfortable with. But if you havent picked up a lefty yet you should at least feel what its like before you make a choice. They just dont feel right to me and never did???

Question about my new bait caster
Yep dont worry about it thats how I do it too. But only cause I dont like the feel of a left handed baitcaster for some reason? You might want to just go to a tackle shop and see what your preference is.

Bass Movie

New BC Reel - Which would you pick? (Under $75)
If you are considering used, then a Citica should be on your list and it should be your choice!! Hell you can almost get a new one for the amount you are looking to spend with the rebate in effect. No Brainer!!

trigger rods?
I think you are right. Pistol, trigger, its all about the gun

trigger rods?
I have always thought a trigger rod had the really short, one hand, thick handle. Here is an example of what i thought was a true trigger rod http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SceneSevenDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=-21814&scene7Path=BassPro%2f50074a%3flayer%3dcomp%26wid%3d500%26hei%3d500%26fmt%3djpeg%26qlt%3d100%2c0%26op_sharpen%3d0%26resMode%3dnorm%26op_usm%3d1.0%2c1.0%2c0.0%2c0&sourceName=images2%2f50000%2f50074a-1.jpg&type=0&linkEnabled=false

Why don't more pro's use left hand baitcasters?
Theres about a half dozen threads about this same topic. A few of the older pros are probably just used to doing it cause they didnt have left hand baitcasteres when they started. For me its just a feel thing. I reel lefty for spinning gear and righty for baitcasters. Cast both righty. The lefty baitcaster just doesnt feel right to me I think it has to do with the tighter rotation of baitcasters retreive. The switch thing is no problem and I dont even notice it anymore. Plus why not do both things with your dominate hand thats just seems normal to me. There is no right or wrong just do whatever feels better to you

Best quickest knot(s)?
Never had a reason to try anything other than the improved clinch although I am using the SanDiego jam on braid

Did you have another hobby besides fishing?
Softball is my other "hobby" as you can see ;D Most of them are for investment purposes (you'd ne surprised the money thats in bats) and the other half are my gamers. But it seems like the bats are deminishing and my rod and reel collection is growing for some reason

Looking at getting a bait cast real for my birthday
You want a rod and reel for $50 or less and dont want it to be cheap :-/ IMO you get what you pay for and at the price point you are looking at junk. I think you are looking at closer $150 for a decent beginner setup. The Daiwa exceler is about $70 I think and have heard good things about it and BPS has some signature reels that have good reviews as well. For a decent rod you are looking at about $75 too. There are some Shimanos, All stars, BPS all in that price range that are gonna do you alot better in the long run. Dont cheap out now only to regret it later. Spend a little more now and have a setup for years to come.

What to do with some old 5'6" casting rods?

What to do with some old 5'6" casting rods?
I have 2 Berkely 5'6" casting rods that are from the early 80s I would say. 1 is a power pole with the neon or glow in the dark tip?? it specs are 1/4-5/8, 10-17lb line, med action super strong. The other is a Lightning rod same lure rating 10-20lb line and just says med lt action? The Lightning has the short trigger handle and the powerpole has a small split grip. Can I put these to use for something. PLease recomend a reel for them too. I was think maybe small spinner baits, cranks?? Maybe a Revos S or Curado 100??

BPS 5 for 5
"you get what you pay for' Right??

Apparently yet another JDM Revo
I cant get the translated page for some reason?? I hit the Abu Garcia and it brings me to a english page, and once I click baitcasters I get Google error saying "Translation from English into English is not supported. "

Looking for a swimbait set-up.
An Abu inshore?? Thats kinda low buck for you isnt it? I would of expected some JDM Conquest DC or something!!! I have a St Croix Legend Tourny Swimbait rod paired with a Calcutta 300te. Love this setup. I hope to throw some swimbaits this upcoming year. I did get to throw some saltwater plugs at the end of the year and it handle fine so freshwater swimbaits should do just fine. Best thing is I picked it up (both) for $195 ;D
