  1. I think he has 3 threads and 1 poll going about everything BPS. 3 just about the RC, carbonlite, and PQ reels?
  2. you are gonna love the everything about this rod. I have a 743dx I got for X-mas and been just drooling at it itching to get out up here in Ma

  5. I wonder if anyone tried this. I have thought about doing it myself but haven't got around to try it.. Get 2 bottles and pour them into a shallow container with a cover (big enough to cover a spool of line but not too big that you need 4-5 bottles!!!) Put the new spool of line in the container and let it sit overnite to absorb the KVD and let dry the next day and then spool up your reel!!!!
  6. I think you would have to get into the Loomis Mossyback and IMX series to be on par with a Powell. GLX wins hands down. GL3 and under go with a Powell. IMX and Mossyback?, toss up, slight edge to IMX maybe
  7. They're much different now. The G1 Dobyns were similar, but the G2 Dobyns are far above. The Savvy series balance as well as the Champions, which is a major plus. Rods over 7ft can get very tip heavy. Yeah your probably right. I have 1 dobyns gen 1 705 and a Gen 2 dx 743 and that thing is awesome!! the Savvy do look sweet and I dont think he will do wrong with any one of the 3 listed. I have a powell 735 that I picked up this winter and yet to use it but it feels very nice. He has 3 great choices here and he will be happy with whatever he chooses.
  8. Powell 725 or 735. The 725 is fast action and 7 '2" and the 735 is Xtra fast action and 7'3" so take your pick. I am sure the Dobyns is just about the same as they are very comparable to each other. http://www.powellco.com/catalog/cat/?id=17
  9. I played with one in BPS and I gotta say I didnt like it either. I am not so sure its the foam though, rather the shape of it. If it were foam and "T" shaped I think I would love it!! The round or cone shaped handle just doesnt feel right to me
  10. your search is over!! http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1262810359
  11. exactly the action is what you are looking for in a soft plastic rod. Fast or extra fast is what you want. So when you say you got a MF I assume its a medium/fast action and you should be fine with that assuming you aint gonna being throwing to heavy cover.
  12. I dont own a sol but have heard pretty good things about them for light lures and plastics. Yeah a Pixy or core 50mg or steez would be nice (a lot of $$) but lets not also forget about the shimano chronarch 50mg too!!! I have a steez 103ha and an Alphas type R and would put the 50mg up against either of those 2 for about half the price!!! So I guess it comes down to how much you want to spend
  13. Heres a breakdown of them not sure if he has any to buy or not. http://www.japantackle.com/Daiwa_reels/Daiwa_TDZ_right.htm
  14. MBR 844 GLX Awesome all round rod. I happen to use it mostly for frogs as well, plenty of power and yet sensitive enough to use for senkos or jigs!!
  15. Catt said some great advice but its tough thing to get used to!! And you guys using leaders, WHY??????? Thats just 1 more failling point. I see no reason to use a leader
  16. Great knot!! Its similar to the improved clinch which is the other knot I use. Simple to tie as well. Personally I think the palomar is a P.I.A. to tie
  17. Pretty sure its always better to charge on the lowest setting which is also the slowest. So unless you are pressed for time I would use the 2 amp setting.
  18. Try Snipatuit and Long pond, the road goes right between em and you can fish both from shore right there. Theres Marys pond and Leonard pond as well. On Lake st there is 3 ponds North, South and east lake pond. all can be fished from shore. There is alot of water down there in that area and I know there have been BIG bass caught from some of them!! Go to google maps (zoom in on Rehoboth) and you will see them all just go do some exploring is the best way to find the good ones.
  19. Well water temp up here is anywhere from 40-50 degrees right now just wondering if there is an optimal temp to start the topwaters?
  20. I have 2 on the way and have only held them in BPS so cant comment too much. But man the lightness of them is worth the $130 each I didnt check out the guides really but that is about the only complaint I hear other than the color. If that was the only drawback how much would it be to replace the guides, would it be worth it then? Just thinking out loud
  21. This would be a casing rod BTW paired with a 50mg and would prefer a longer rod around 7' if posible
  22. Thinking of picking up an original LTX carrot for senkos and worms. What model would you recomend?
  23. Has anyone used this yet? http://www.***.com/descpageHDTSNAG-SPFGZ.html I think the single hook would vastly improve hookups. I love the spro cast it a mile, never gets hungup, but man you miss alot of fish with it. I actually prefer plastic toads/frogs like the horny toad. I have better hookup with them it seems and think it has to do with the single hook. You can also let them sink when you come to and open area in the pads or weeds. But I saw this frogzilla with the single hook and it looks like a perfect combo of a bronzeye with the single hook like plastic toad. Any thoughts?
  24. V for lighter lures Z for heavier lures
  25. I was told for single hook lures you want fast action to set the hook and for trebles a medium to moderate action as to not pull the trebles out.
