  1. I have all 3 of those reels. All great but man the weight (lack of that is) of the 50/51 makes it such a sweet little reel and performs like a champ to boot. You should just go ahead and order another if you really need 3 as you wont be disappointed
  2. I have a 782 GLX and it is awesome for pointers and small cranks like minus 1s I do throw some buzzbaits and it handle those well too. As long as you aint fishing near thick cover you should be good otherwise you may opt for the 783
  3. Why do these "crankin" sticks have fast/Xtra fast actions? I thought you want a moderate or medium action for cranks?
  4. Yeah I am leaning towards a BPS Crankin stick at least 7'6". I have a MBR 844glx I guess that can handle the smaller swimbaits alright, but I like to keep a senko or jig on that rod. I have a question about the BPS crankin sticks though? How come the actions on them are fast/extra fast. I thought you wanted a slow to moderate action on crankbait rods?
  5. Mh or heavy is the POWER of the rod and I agree with your recomendations but would have him lead towards the heavy power seeing he is fishing weeds and brushpiles. As far as action goes fast or extra fast is what you are gonna need. So any combo of MH/H power and an action of fast/Xfast should be good for what you need but like I said with the cover you are talking about I would lean towards a heavy power in either fast or exta fast
  6. If a Citica 200E is too small for his hands then a Chronarch 50mg probably would be as well. Yep no doubt! Look in the flea market section there is a citica 200d for sale all spooled up with suffix braid for $60 shipped Great deal great reel I had one and loved it but it was a bit to big for my small hands and now have the 100dsv and love it as much as any of my other reels, and I have some good ones (steez, 100dc, 50 mg, zillion, and stx)
  7. Wouldnt waste your money on the Cruxis not thats its bad but the Citica is just way better. If you are worried about the size of the newer citica just search the boards for the older 200d model you could even find a Curado 200d for about the price you you would pay for a new Ctica and wold palm better for you
  8. Can I get a rod that will handle these 2 applications? Looking to throw mattlures perch, 4" BBZ, 6" huds, 6" basstrix style baits, sebiles, and cranks in the 10-20ft range up to a DD22
  9. Has anyone tried braid as main line, say 10/2 PP and a Flouro leader? I am gonna give DS a try this year and I usually have braid on my setups and dont want to strip it off? I would think it would be alot more sensitive and that thin a dia shouldnt matter as far as visibility goes? Thoughts???
  10. I have this rod (GLX) paired with a calcutta 100dc and used it all last week in Fl. I tossed just about everything with it, senkos, jerks, small cranks, t rigs, frogs, traps, and as RW said Mattlures perch and the 4in spro BBZ and it did it all!!!!!!!!! GREAT Rod!!!! To be honest I have not used it too much before this trip as I have been partial to my steez/782 glx setup but I think it will see much more action now
  11. thanks guys got down here last nite. Theres a small pond right behind the inlaws house on the coarse, caugth a 3lber and lost something much bigger! How far or what town can I get peacoks? If anyone wants to hook up lmk and I will see if I can get out thanks again
  12. Will be heading down to Stuart for Christmas and was wondering if there is any "safe" place to shore fish without getting eatin by an alligator :-/ Dont have the cash for a guide or boat rental really, any help appreciated or should I just leave the gear at home?
  13. I tried mine out last weekend while fishing for trout casue I just had to see what it looked like. Man what action, looks like a real fish. I got the slow sink and it sinks real slow and its tough to get it down with any kind of steady retrieve. If you want to get it down you might want to look at the fast sink version. My friend couldnt believe how realistic it looks
  14. just fishing ponds with normal size trout. Once in a while someone might get a big salmon or brown up to 15lbs but for the most part I am looking at targeting normal size trout. Mainly using spinners, spoons, castmasters, smaller rapalas probably 1/4oz and under stuff.
  15. looking for suggestions on a decent trout rod to be paired with a stradic 1000. May also be used for some bass finesse fishing (drop shot, shakey head anything light) if possible. Prefer at least a 6'6 or 7 ft length, not looking to break the bank either maybe up to $125ish give or take?
  16. tied it on a jig tonight. hopefully get to try it this week sometime. The SDJ is the only knot I used on braid hasnt failed me yet!!!
  17. Good time! Great lake. We caught alot of fish and so did everyone else, mostly 1 1/2 - 2lb clones. We had 8.06 lbs and finished 7th out of 15 boats. First place was like 12.11 lbs and lunker was 4.2. The pond is 7 miles long and we only had my 12 pelican with a 3 hp so we were limited to how far we could run. There were about 10 big bass boats that could fly all over which of coarse helped them.
  18. Any Maine boys here know it at all? I am heading up this weekend for a tourny of some sort and need some help on what kinda tactics will work well, lures, colors, presentations etc...... Also where to fish as well. I heard it mostly a smallmouth pond which I dont have alot of experience with. Thanks for any help you may offer up in advance
  19. I have tried the Fathead Jr and think its has some good action the few times I have thrown it. Had one bite and missed it!! But so far I am pleased with the action and will be throwing it more often now its warming up.
  20. Cant go wrong with PowerPro of Sufix performance braid. Those are considered the 2 best. There are alot of people that like fireline too
  21. Pretty sure the Curado or Citica 100DSV spool will fit. I dont think it matters that your is lefty. Hopefully somoeone can confirm
  22. Talk about a light setup!!!! Probably close to my Steez/782 glx combo
  23. Love the 1-minus. They cast a mile and catch fish like no tomorrow in the spring!!!!!
  24. First you need the right rod, then the right reel. Some baitcasters just dont throw the light stuff and some excel at it. But you need the right combo of both. Also I would use lighter line if thats all you are gonna be concentrating on. Good luck
  25. So an "overspin" is different than a backlash?
