  1. I remember when these were the new "it" hook. I bought a few packs. IIRC they were blunt as a butter knife and the gauge on them was super thick--much more so than my standard Gamakatsu.
  2. Would be even better if we could get Straw and HoJo to co-captain the home team.
  3. I you sign up for their newsletter, they'll send you an email about every hour to update you on their current sales.
  4. Should be Wainwright and Scherzer IMO. Also, I'd love to see Moreland in the HRD. That dude doesn't hit too many, but when he does, he crushes it.
  5. Heckuva sale. I really like the terminator finesse jigs...and for a buck a piece I figured I might as well get entirely too many. Also picked up a dozen of the gander mtn swim jigs. Never tries em before, but figured what the hell.
  6. I've gotten to where I prefer a sub 7' rod for just about everything. I particularly like a Loomis 803 or 804 depending on the weight of the jig.
  7. Welcome!
  8. Like the others said; if you can afford it, grab it. I absolutely struggle with spinning gear. I literally have NO idea where each cast is going to end up. I love my Pixy for light tackle. There is very little that a spinning setup can throw that my Pixy won't handle. The 50e shimanos are great, but they cant quite go as low in weight. If the price is too scary, look at an older model...they can be had at a much better price.
  9. Congrats on the score. I had to sell mine a couple years ago. It still hurts when I think about it.
  10. That's quite a score! I've heard nothing but great things about the KLX. That's probably the gem of the bunch.
  11. I always use tape. I have wicked fat fingers so tying a knot on the spool is a major pita for me.
  12. The rod is 6'5" and is rated light I believe. It's a pretty nice build with a fast/mod fast taper and ported Eva split grips. I can't really speak much about the sensitivity yet because I haven't had it out save for a couple trips to the pond. I believe the fantasista series is JDM only.
  13. Silver Mica Pixy with its new ride, an Abu Garcia Fantasista Yabai. This setup is a blast. I can throw an unweighted 3" senko with ease.
  14. Alphas 103 w/ Ocean Mark Studios handle on a Cumara CUC63M. I have a buddy who's a wiz with an airbrush; he painted the knob caps and the nut retainer--they're a perfect match.
  15. Your take on the issue makes perfect sense to me. There's not a thing in the world wrong with your preference. For me however, I'll take the smallest, lightest reel I can for almost any situation. I've become quite spoiled.
  16. One of the all time greats is hanging up his shoes. The dude had crazy instincts and basketball IQ. He is one of my all time favorites. I still remember being in junior high and getting my #5 Cal jersey from eastbay. I wore that sucker about every day. Hats off to the best point guard I've ever had the pleasure of watching.
  17. I fish regularly with Daiwa, Shimano, and Abu. If I absolutely had to choose one, it would be Daiwa.
  18. I'm in north Fort Worth, so idk much about that part of the area, but pretty much everywhere in the metro has an abundance of fishing holes. I'd be happy to show you some spots in my area if you're interested. Good luck with the move!
  19. I run 6lb on my white bass rig. It's a gas! The dudes at the creek look at me like I'm on crack when I show up with a crappie jig on a casting rod.
  20. In my experience, the Pixy is hands down the best finesse casting reel to be had. I've heard nothing but great things about the Conquest 50, but have never even held one. The Curado/Chronarch 50e(haven't used the Chronarch, but is my understanding that they are essentially the same) would be my second choice---I feel that it gives up little if anything casting wise to the Core 50. Finally, the Daiwa Alphas platform makes a pretty good finesse caster. With some tuning(and some $$$), an Alphas could probably be made to perform similar to a Pixy. It all kinda comes down to how much you want to spend. I haven't spent any time with an MGX other than just tinkering with it at the store, but if I was gonna drop that kind of dough, I'd be looking Daiwa or Shimano.
  21. Welcome to the metro! And you're just in time for summer.... What part of the metro are you moving to?
  22. My heart is just broken for the people of south OKC. I spent about 5 yrs in Moore. It's just a quaint suburb full of the nicest people you'd ever want to know. All of my friends and their kids are ok. I know that we have several members from the area--hopefully they will be checking in when they can.
  23. I fish out of a pontoon style float tube quite a bit and I ran into a similar problem. I finally settled on a Cumara 6'3 H/F. It's not the ideal taper for square bills IMO, but it's dang sure good enough. Plus, it also handles my spinnerbaits and swim jigs quite well.
