  1. I hate to pigeon hole myself into one brand of anything, but if I absolutely had to choose it would be Loomis with Lamiglas a close 2nd. They both have rods for every technique and/or species that one could ever need.
  2. Looks like a blast to me. As bad as the fishing has been here lately I'd be stoked to even have the opportunity to catch another species while bass fishing--teeth or not.
  3. The Sol/Alphas are my favorite line of reels. I have them mounted on everything from a ML to a H/XF. The Lamiglas should be a fine paring. I've not used the Excels, but in my experience Lami rods fish about 1/2-1 power heavier than the rating. So it basically comes down to what you want the rod to accomplish. I would suspect that the ML fishes more like a M. Seems like it would make a nice rod for small senko baits, shakey heads, and light jigs/t-rigs. If you're gonna be throwing 3/8oz and up more often, I'd go with the M.
  4. DFW has cooled off considerably in the last few days. The highs have been around 90-93 and the forecast shows the same over the next week. Its almost pleasant out. I work in a shop with the overhead doors wide open all day, and let me tell you, there is a HUGE difference between 90 and 100.
  5. Any of you guys in the DFW area should check out Anglers Pro Tackle in North Richland Hills. It's as good a tackle store as you will find anywhere. If they don't have it, just let em know, and they'll get it.
  6. I'm in the same boat. Out of the 8-9 setups I regularly use, I might have 1 reel that was purchased new. Most of my rods were new, but I didn't pay anywhere near retail save my one megabass rod.
  7. I'll take a 3 meat. Ribs, sausage, and briscuit with beans, tater salad, and slaw for the sides. Finish it off with some Sweet tea and banana pudding. I could go out happy on that one.
  8. The best fisherman with whom I have ever fished used nothing but spincasters. I saw that old man pull more bass, crappie, gasper, etc. out of Lake Ivie than everyone else in the boat. There was nothing like the site of a deck full of GLX's with Zebco 33's mounted.
  9. I'll be a buyer based on reputation and track history alone.
  10. DFW has hit its summer stride. I'd give my left nut for a day under 95 right about now.
  11. Chicken E is great for fast food, but it's not even in the same league as Babes.
  12. Oh buddy! I could live on Babes biscuits. And that salad dressing....mmmm! Idk of any good BBQ in Grapevine, but there is Hard 8 in Roanoke. It's not too far of a drive. If you go on Saturday night, they have smoked prime rib that will knock your socks off!
  13. 1/4 oz on a Loomis 803 1/4+ on a Loomis 804
  14. X2. That's a no brainer for me.
  15. Lake Fork is less than 2 hrs away from me. I've been out there a handful of times over the years, and it's always been a miserable experience. I know that it's super crowded for a reason, but it's such a pita to unload and load that I find myself going elsewhere.
  16. Try that mega strike on a sammich. Mmmm good!
  17. Great song! Just saw Clapton a few months ago and this was the final song of his encore. Talk about goin out on a high note!
  18. For me, they are the perfect 1/4oz swim jig trailer. In fact, I don't think I've ever used them for any other purpose. I'm sure they'd be great on something like a 2/0 twist lock and/or a keel weighted hook.
  19. I had a LTB that was similarly tip heavy and a Zillion helped to balance it somewhat. That would be my vote.
  20. Didn't even think about that. According to tackletrap's website it will fit a Steez 100. Shoot em an email. They usually respond very quickly.
  21. The hedgehog tool is the way to go. It's super easy to use and not much more expensive than the Boca pliers. A lot of guys have had great success with the T3 1016 spool in the Steez. It might be worth a look.
  22. I'm in the same school as the op. I am beyond terrible with spinning gear. I have no idea where each cast is going to end up. I've tried, I've failed, I've moved on...spinning gear just ain't for me.
