Do you guys think skinny/narrow tie is consider unprofessional for a first interview with the interviewer?

I don't think it is. It a black tie on white shirt and black suit..Perfect colors for first interview. Someone mentioned it was unprofessional. The guy doesn't even have a professional job so I didn't trust his judgement. I plan wear it with confidence..

If it's a job interview at some "hip" clothing store in the mall, then no. Otherwise, it's unprofessional.

Oh those things. I generally Only see punk girls, goth chicks, and emo girls wearing those. If you aren't in any of those groups I wouldn't wear it.

Back when my company was larger if there was one thing that would annoy me was someone in a suit that didnt fit right. sleeves too long, pants too long, you get the picture. Go to a tailor and spend $50 to get it to fit right. It will make you look much more put together.

Redline's advise is right on. Good tailoring can make an inexpensive suit look good. The suit should match the interview as Robert mentioned, if you are unsure of the tie, do a little internet searching and you'll have your answer. I believe most of the time a conservative outfit is the way to go for an interview, what you may wear out on a date or for dinner is a different issue.

Even though you took the time to ask the original question, your quick defense of the choice shows you probably didn't need to ask in the first place. Added to the fact that the news is saying this morning that only 1 in 5 graduates will be able to find work associated to their chosen major most likely renders the entire subject moot.

Go with a classic look, not trendy. IE stay away from the skinny tie.

I foresee a post whining about inequities and bias in the job interview process, lol. Dude, you probably will be doing a bunch of interviews before you get a job anyway, so make it fun. Try both at several interviews, report back with the results. And don't just interview for jobs you want - just make a list, and go.

I'm just going go in that interview, tell him about my dreams and ambitions. He see that, he should see potentials. If not, then I got back up plans. I've already got a job offer, I just want this job more than the other one.

The slim fit suits fits me a lot better than the classic. I've already got that situated. I felt like the classic fit suits was like wearing a garbage bag..

I agree- i also work in banking- a typically conservative industry. Skinny ties and fitted suits are in, and they look good.
