Finally got my goal bass, I’ve been hunting this fish for years. Countless hours and heart breaks.  I started out waking up at 430 am, feeling like crap, mixture of expired cheese and a couple of be

Great bunch of fish, especially fishing from shore.  👍

Fished my 'home' pond yesterday afternoon.  One LMB & one pick, both around 2#, made it to the kayak.  Lost three on a bladed jig.  Weather was same as the morning.  Water temps were 58.x.

Keep me posted if you find someone, I had some mice get into the tracker over the winter and did a number on the carpet. Found nests in the rod locker comprised of mostly that same carpet fiber.

I'm told there is a place called JCS Marine restoration in Coventry RI. Seems like a "top notch" business.

Took a short trip to Plymouth this morning, launching at first light.  It was a perfect topwater morning, so I started with a bone Zara Spook.  I hooked up & unhooked with two nice SMB in short order.  Shortly after I got a hit & miss from a LMB.  Luckily it came back for a second try.  It weighed 4_0 and was 21" long.  I had a couple more SMB hit & misses, and that was it.

That was it.  Water temps were 59.x - 60.x.  Air pressure was 30.  Winds were near calm at launch but picked up to 10+ by 0900.

I might get out again this afternoon.  It'll be a game time decision.

Good luck to everyone else getting out there this weekend.

Pretty sure a 21" LMB is a pinner, hope you got a pic of the measurement. Congratulations!

Nope, I don't bother with that stuff.  It's the 'tick' and 'pull' I go for.  I get my catches back in the water as quickly as I can.

What I started doing for any picture/weigh worthy fish is I got a gripper leash like this:

If it's a good one I net it, unhook it, and immediately put it back in the water attached to the leash while I get the scale and my phone ready. Makes for a much easier time on the fish but I still get to quickly document them.

I have to keep the Bait Monkey away for a while.  I just ordered replacement top & window weather stripping for my '68 Buick GS convertible.

Went out twice this MDW, Friday and Saturday.

Friday was a great multispecies evening. Water temps hovering around 60 degrees with heavy clouds and light rain. I wanted to avoid the cold water runoff from the N O R E A S T A so I hit up a clear pond with no water inflows, and it paid off well. 1 small lmb, 2 good sized perch, 1 nice green sunfish, 4 brook trout, and 1 tank brown. Most fish were caught on the 110+1 jr, and I got a couple on the finesse swimbait. The fish finder I got this winter really has been putting in work, large schools of perch in about 10-25 ft of water was the area to target. Without it I would have been blind casting and caught maybe 1-3 fish.

Saturday was busy as I was running errands, but I locked in and managed to get a healthy 5 hours from 3:30-8:30pm. I hit up a very well known pond near me. I had a bad spring there but the pics I saw on social media proved that there was still potential. 4 bass was honestly better than I expected, especially considering they were all fat and healthy 3+lbs post spawn shad munchers. 2 on a squarebill in 4-7 feet of water ticking the top of the submergent grass. I also got my first ever bass on a magdraft, she hit it on a shallow grass flat right off the main island in the middle. Right before I took the kayak out I flipped the trees by the boat ramp and snatched a skinnier but still very nice bass. Overall an awesome weekend.

This is absolutely the way. I think everyone should invest in something like this. It always hurts me when I see a picture of someone holding a donkey with dirt all over them or if they look like they've been put under a heat lamp all dried up.

Sunday, South Shore as always… water was cold after the Nor’easter.. smelled awful trudging through muck but landed 2 swamp donkeys. Best feeling in the world.

May 27th

A.M. Clear blue skies and calm winds. By noon partly cloudy with calm winds to slightly breezy.

Water temps in low 60s which was about 5 degrees colder since the last time I fished that pond.

Morning bite was moderate, then picked up around noon.

Most productive lures: Top water zara spook and worms, texas rigged and wacky.

Seen a few bass jump right through the lily pads and that's when I threw the zara spook.

Chain pickerel and Largemouth Bass were the fish caught. One brown trout on a jerk bait.

Sidenote: Seen two bald eagles and a fox.

Had a decent trip to Plymouth this morning.  Four SMB, one white perch, and one LMB made it to the kayak.  Everyone was caught with an emerald green Rapala PXR jerkbait.  Three of four SMB were a touch over two pounds and Larry weighed in at 3_4.

Water temps were 62.x when I launched and 66.x when I left.  Winds were light to moderate.  Air pressure was 30.3.

This weekend I was only able to get out on Friday but I for sure made the most of it. 7 bass and 4 perch were landed over a beautiful evening at a new lake. While the water temps were on the lower end for post spawn activity, the time of year is right and all my bass were caught using traditional techniques - topwater, soft jerkbait, and jigs. I covered a lot of water but focused mostly on choke points from shallow to deeper areas and was able to find most of them close to cover adjacent to bluegill beds.

Took the grandson out fishing this A.M.

Blue bird skies, water temps 63-65, calm winds.

Fished Cook Pond, water visibility was maybe 1 1/2-2feet, lots of algae. I didn't think it would be this dingy this time of year but it was. I avoid this pond in the summer.

Crankbaits was the top producer.

Fish of the day were Bass and Yellow Perch.

The grandson was the master fisherman by out fishing me 15 to 5!

I told him when I dropped him off home, to go brag about it ;)

It was a good day.

Ran into a good one last night. 6.6 lbs on a spinnerbait. Probably about 4ft of water at the edge of some pads. Finally something over 2lbs this spring.

Hooked it just as I was leaving. Probably would have been my last cast. Just a beautiful fish.

Look at that spawned out belly, what a tank, could have gone seven easily if it were earlier in the season.

Went out this past Tuesday on a new body of water; I've been making it a mission to explore more this season. I must have went 0-7 on hooksets with the frog before finally starting to land them. Caught 5 in total with most coming tight to cover in very shallow water, around 0-2 ft. My key to success was bending out the hooks a little. Normally I do that with all my frogs but the one I was using was bought this year and I got a little lazy, won't make that mistake again!

Crazy striper fishing yesterday evening! All topwater!  Brough in 30 bass and blues to the boat missed a bunch, biggest and the first fish of the year was 25lbs on the 2nd cast!!

Exactly!!!! Bass fishing is fun but it’s June there’s so many more fish to catch!  Mix it up.

June 13th report

6:30am to 11am

Partly cloudy skies, winds about 5mph.

One largemouth, the rest were white and yellow perch. The fish seemed really aggressive.

Top producer was the chartreuse crankbait.

After the LM, the white perch were all over the place. I decided to switch since they were the most aggressive. For a short time, I was trying for the 14" white perch, but no cigar.

Always a good day on the water.

Cheers.
