I have a 7' M falcon t7 cara rod that I use for topwater and crankbaits. When I catch a fish it has no backbone to it. I think I want a MH with a moderate or moderate fast tip but I'm not sure. I want this rod to be able to throw a 15+ crankbait but have a soft enough tip for topwater lures. Any SUGGESTIONS??????

I still recommend the Powell Composite Deep Cranking rod, 7'11....best cranker I've ever had. I swear you are going to get me curious enough to try this Lamiglas one day. Still won't be replacing my Powell though, I love that rod!

yep, I love the Denali jw843 for crankbaits, I throw warts down to DD-22's with it . even squarebills ,just a superb rod. For me I like a shorter, quicker rod for topwater..

Personally, I think if you're going to try and combine cranking and topwater with one rod, I wouldn't go over 7 ft. Even a 7 ft. rod can be hard to work a topwater with when you're holding your rod tip down. I crank with the Denali Jadewood 842, 7 ft., Med, Mod., rod., but I don't do any real deep cranking. The 843 MH, previously mentioned, would probably suit you better for that. The Denali Jadewoods are $99 rods, and I personally don't think you'll find a nicer rod in that catagory.

If you like the Falcon Cara line, take a look at the Composite Cranker II, I use this rod for my deep cranks, and like it very much.

Deep crank'n I call 15'+, I love the AVC70MM ST. Croix. Avid, works great for me, if I was going to run 20+ maybe think about the AVC70HM, but think it is a little heavy for Bass.

Just got a St.Croix Mojo "Big Crankster" and love it so far. Soft tip to really fell the bait so I can crawl it through the rocks and wood but plenty of backbone to move a big fish with a long handle to help launch a bait and then give you plenty of leverage so you don't get worn out cranking the big baits.

I don't know how good of a rod it would be for topwaters but what I look for in a topwater rod and what I look for in a cranking rod are very different things.

Ideally, top water and deep cranks are two different rods. For top water I use A St Croix 6'8'' MXF rod and for deep cranks a St Croix AVC 7' HM. I do have a St Croix AVC 7" MHM that I use for shallow to medium cranks. The 7' AVC MHM, would handle both your top water and 15' cranks although not the best fit for either technique. You already have a good top water, shallow crankbait rod so I would concentrate on a rod for just deep cranking.There are already many good suggestions for a deep crankbait rod.

My deep cranking rod is a Cabelas Prodigy PDC705-1 7'MH/MF 1/4-1oz and it handles SK 6XD's pretty well so far.
