I like super spook jrs, but i havent tried any others honestly

XCalibur Jimmy and the Lucky Craft Sammy are my personal favorites, but there's nothing wrong with a Spook, especially the One-Knockers.

Big difference between a dog walking surface lure and a wake bait.

The MS Slammer is a wake bait, Spooks are dog walking surface lure.

My favorite walking bait ?? Can't recall the name, it's a balsa Sammy and need to dig it out and look at it. The original wooden Sammy is a close second. Also like Owner's Zip n Ziggy, a limitle smaller and cast great in the wind. The old Rogue Paw Scooter and Buc n Brawl rear prop baits are excellent, just change the hooks, if you can find them.

Ive been wanting to try a gun fish, but the price is a bit steep

Last couple years it has been a Zell Pop for me. That popper walks like a dream. Second to that is a Super Spook.

Sammys, Xcaliber Jimmys, super spook Jr and regular spooks, and Rapala Skitter walks are the only walking baits I use.

If you have an Academy Sports or can order online, they have a nice knockoff of the gunfish for much less.

my best producing "walk the dog" type has been a heddon swayback spook. Not sure of the color...has a clear bottom with an olive type color on top. Walks very easily.

Next would be a lucky craft sammy...white with purple top. also very easy to walk.

That's it, less than 10 walking baits in my topwater box at any time.

-Xwalk 13 in glass ghost, The smaller xwalks/skitter walks simply are nothing special to me. This bait however, is very, very special. A true big fish bait. The "glass ghost" pattern is the only "xwalk" style I finish I like. It looks remarkably like a big shad. Ive had the pleasure of seeing some monster bass react in a crazy way to this bait.

-Lucky craft Sammy 85 in MS American Shad, THE NO 1 numbers Topwater bait I own, I keep 3 at all times. Catches big fish too, especially brown ones in rivers.

-Damiki Dolphin- Nice and subtle, somewhat similar to a sammy.

-Lucky craft gunfish- A great bait thats growing on me. Still reach for the sammy more out of confidence in them.

-Spooks of all sizes. They work quite well at a good price.

Yep it's called the pistol minnow. Awesome little bait. Finally got to trying out a couple of weeks ago and caught 5 nice ones when they started chasin shad to the surface. Only thing is the hooks they worked fine but did get bent some.

Some good advice here Make sure you trim the legs on the frog to get a better head sway movement, and hold on!

As this is my favorite style of fishing ive tried alot of lures and got it down to my two goto baits.

1. Luckycraft Sammy 85, ms aurora shad, ive hooked up to 6lb bass on this lure, always keep an extra.

2. Yozuri Banana boat in tennessee shad. I put a bigger hook on the back. This is an awesome lure as well, bought a lot of 8 on ebay this year since there discontinued..

Had a chance to look in the boat for the ?? Top water Sammy type lure and it's a Shad color Vixen, excellent lure. I also discovered another larger top water rainbow trout lure I use a lot called a Pup Fish, both are no longer made.
