Let's see those pics from those horrifying moments when you realize you DO NOT have the state record smallmouth on the end of your line.

Might be a smallie inside there but this one made me say it -

"If this is a bass - it's a big one"

This one really surprised me because I'd never seen one before. My first and only goldeye from Milford Lake Kansas, looked like a little tarpon with needle teeth.

Wasn't any doubt what this one was but this lake has some monster smallies so I was a little hopeful for the first 10 minutes or so of the fight. 40lbs from Wabunsee Lake, Kansas.

I have always wanted to catch one and this one was also tagged so i wanted to document the catch and get it to the DGIF for their research.

Pretty cool actually since he was able to tell me what the fish weighed, length and where it was caught when it was initially tagged.

The drum have fooled me many times!

A month or two ago I thought I had hit a snag trolling flicker shads for walleye, smallmouth, pike, white bass and whatever else wanted to take a shot.  Then the snag started moving but not really fighting very hard, usually the indicator of a very large pike that does not know she's hooked yet.  Much to my disappointment it turned out to be a freakin' big softshell turtle snagged in the foot!  Ahhhh!

We were fishing a local cooling lake and were having a 50 fish day of smallies and largies. This put up the best fight of the day and came home for dinner.

Biggest I ever caught was 12 pounds , which I was proud of since the state record is 17, LOL

WHen fishing for stripers at night at the bridge tunnels down here, you never know what will hit. This 19" Hickory Shad hit the same 1/4oz jig I was using for the striper.....

Or this past November while chasing largemouth using a PTL Craw D'oeuvre on a Draggin' Head getting slammed by a 20.5" Channel Cat....

I went out this Saturday (South Dakota/Nebraska border in January :) ) jigging, drop shotting and deep crankin' for smallmouth and turned up these two fish, and a bunch of pike, before I caught a smallmouth.
