I'll have some new baits to try this year, including some new custom made cranks that I'm real excited about. I'll try to use what I think will do best under the conditions at hand, but my best producing baits lately on the watersheds I fish are the Zoom mag2 watermellon/red ( 10lb. fluroclear, 1/8oz tru-tungstein, Gama 3/0),  Roboworm 71/2" robotail redcrawler or Aarons magic ( same set up), a Bomber 6a or 7a redfire crawdad ( red/chart.) 

Go to bait would depend on timeof year:

Early Spring- #5 Shad rap

Mid to late spring- 8" Zoom Lizard on C-Rig

Summer- T-Rigged Ole Monster

Fall- 1/4 oz finesse jig with Craw Papi trailer

Tubes.... No other lure is as versatile as a tube.

1/8 Football Jig - Brown/Orange w/ craw trailer

3/16 Spider Slider Head w/ 4" str. tail worm (either Brewers or Berkley)

Hard Bait =  SK Red Eye Shad

Soft Bait = GYCB Fat Ika

Color depends on water conditions.

A watermelon/red flake Zoom finesse worm.

I'm also going with a tube.. it can be fished like a jig, you can swim it or even use it as a topwater. Most versatile lure IMO. I do throw jigs the most though all year long.

Last year it was a 3/8 jig.

don't have a lure that works 60% of the time, all the time....but I do have a few that I'm always sure to throw, regardless of conditions.  One is a shakey head, usually a 6'' Finesse Worm in Watermelon/Purple Swirl or a Roboworm in Martens Magic.  The other is an Owner Cultiva rip'n minnow 65sp in Blue Ghost or Black Pearl, caught fish all last year on it.

shaky head with 4" zoom finesse worm, green pumpkin, with the tip of the tail dipped in JJ's Magic chartreuse.  my one and only panic bait.

There are days when I can almost smell impending doom,

days when we find ourselves counting bites instead of bass

One lure in particular though, has often got the skunk out of our boat.

Slow bottom-drag using double-twitches and pauses.

The "jig worm" has saved the day many times for me. 

Shakey head with somet type of finesse plastic. Also dropshot.  8-)
