Manti Te'o

I know most of you have already read this: http://deadspin.com/5976517/manti-teos-dead-girlfriend-the-most-heartbreaking-and-inspirational-story-of-the-college-football-season-is-a-hoax

I'm not going beat the horse or anything, but I cannot believe all this crap. The original news coverage failure to do their research before the story hit the mainstream, the way his parents lied with him, etc. Part of me thinks Te'o is in on it for the publicly of getting to New York and part of me says he lied because he was embarrassed of "dating" a girl online for long time without ever meeting her...

Nothing surprises me anymore ... O.J. Simpson, Lance, Tiger, Bonds, Ray Lewis, Koby Bryant ... the list goes on an on.  All have something fishy about their past.  Some got caught.  This "hoax" is little compared to some of these other stories but again

.. Nothing surprises me anymore.  :-(

Draft stock ...going down

Sad, this young man and his family need help. Implicit and perpetuating this lie will not result in a happy ending!

The best part is that he claims he was "Duped".  This kid just doesn't know when to stop does he.

Well, I doubt there will be any direct impact on his NFL status, but he probably will get

hurt with potential outside sponsorship.  Tiger Woods is still the most popular golfer on

the PGA. Most Democrats idolize President Clinton and as long as Michael Vick still plays,

no one will replace him at the bottom of the cesspool.

I think the Crimson Tide has more to do with his draft stock sinking than a fictious girl friend.

X3. There are plenty of high draft picks still playing who are guilty of more serious things.

P.S. If he did this for publicity, he got it in spades!! :laugh5:

Too many people are quick to judge based on their own assumed conclusion. I think I'll just let this play out a couple weeks and see what comes out then.

I hope he's telling the truth.

He's still a heck of a football player. The lower he goes in the draft, the better team he goes to.

I personally think he was just embarrassed of having a girlfriend he had never seen. Maybe he didnt want to feel criticized by his peers for being in love with a woman who he has never even seen with his own 2 eyes. I do agree though that if this is the case, he should have owned up to it already because it is only going to get worse the longer this junk goes on.

Apparently, he had a "long distance relationship" and was never physically around this girl, just like he was with the Alabama running backs.

Jeff

The whole thing is just weird.

My prediction is he'll be a bust in the NFL.

Duped or not. The fact that he had an "internet girlfriend" makes him look like a total idiot.

Boz was a superbust. Leaf was a superbust. Im predicting he will be a slight bust.

I think were looking at one of the first major athletes potentially admitting he is gay. I don't think he was duped, I think he and his friend concocted this to hide their relationship. I bet his family knows as well, and this whole duped excuse is so he can get drafted and cash in, before the truth comes out.

and I don't say that in any sort of demeaning way, just my thoughts.

Tony Mandarich anyone?

deaknh03 may be on to something....

I was living in Seattle during the days of "The Boz".  To say he did not live up to expectations is putting it mildly.

Ryan Leaf, drafted second after Peyton Manning, and at the time it was considered to be close to a toss-up as to which one was the better QB.

I remember when Bo Jackson ran over him on MNF.
