On The Water Snacks?

Featured Replies

deer jerky or almonds to keep me from getting hungry if I'm out 4-6 hours. I'll swing by subway and bring a cooler if it'll be longer. When It is hot, I like to freeze a couple bottles of water to keep it cool.

  • My son and I have a morning ritual. Gas up at Thorntons and grab a 6 pack of chocolate longjons

  • I usually get distracted and forget to eat honestly, more so if im catching them.   "No time to eat must cast..."   I really dont like to take alot of stuff also helps avoid "uh oh gotta go #2 out

  • I usually pack water, couple cans of soda, some fruit and homemade snack sticks or Jerky. I like to have food that is quick to eat so i can get back to fishing ASAP.

Poptarts and iced tea. The wife usually meets me at the dock with lunch.

I always throw a pack of peanut butter crackers in my vest pocket incase the fish are biting and we dont wanna stop, lol. Most of the time will hit wawa and get gatorades, hoagies and chips.

If I know I'll be moving around a lot and the runs will be ten minutes or more, I'll pack some kind of sandwich.  I'll normally stop on the way to the lake and pick-up a good sized meal and then just stay hydrated until I'm on the way back. If I bring anything, it'll be snack sized fruit or baby carrots and sweet peppers along with some ranch dip.

I'm surprised as I can be that nobody said the ol' classic, Vienna weenies. I just finished a can of them, too.

If I go alone or with a friend it's any combination of pop, chips, cookies, Little Debbie cakes, candy bars kept cold, and sandwiches.

If I go with my wife, I'm liable to be fishing from the front deck with my back to her and in my own little world, smell somebody cooking burgers on the grill at a nearby campsite on the lake, turn around and realize it's her frying them on a propane grill in the back of the boat. Yeah, she did that once. It was awesome eatin' since I was severely hungry, but after it was done I told her to never do it again. She asked why and I just pointed to the 12 gallon fuel tank behind her. She was like, wow, never gave it a thought. Thought you all might enjoy that story. Man, they sure were good, though. The whole time I was eating I kept thinking how bad that fire could have been.

When I was a little kid I'd go crabbing with my dad on the Magothy River (off the Chesapeake) and my mom would pack ham and cheese sandwhiches.  I don't really even like ham and cheese but for some reason, after sitting in a plastic bag for 3 or 4 hours in the sun and and condensating all in the ziplock, it tasted good.  Go figure.

Now that Im older (and boatless) Im fishing from and bank and my trips usually only last a few hours.  As such, I usually just grab something to eat on the way.  Depending on where Im going and time of day it's either Sausage Egg and Cheese McGriddle value meal or Fillet-o-Fish value meal from McDonalds or Ill hit the pit beef place and either get a Scrapple Egg and Cheese on white toast with hasbrowns or a Pit Turkey Sandwhich and Fries.

Water and Gatorade.  I don't eat much while fishing, but when I do it's during the run from one spot to another.     Either small packages of crackers (cheese or peanut butter) or just several peanut butter sandwiches for the day.  It has to resist top speed, and those do pretty well.

Coors Light is enough to get me through most days on the water.

It depends on the legnth of outing. Typically I am out for 3 hours minimum and as long as 12 hours. For the shorter trips a non carbonated beverage and a non messy snack or fruit. For longer outings a cooler is packed with multiple beverages, fruit, pretzels, sandwiches, etc...

Starts the night before, no meal with a lot of salt, same goes for breakfeast in the morning. When my diabetes was not under control I drank a lot of water, too hard to take a whizz in 5' waves.  Now that my blood sugar is in control I drink very little when I'm out there, make sure I don't eat anything with too much salt and no sugar.  I have to eat to live, just the way it is, I maintain a very healthy diet, I have no choice, my wife won't let me.........lol.

Curry lamb with a nice mango relish over wild rice, some maple syrup brazed scallops with a light salad and balsamic vinaigrette. I don't drink wine so a 2 liter of Pepsi to wash her down.

Hot dogs.  Cook them before I leave and put them in a thermos to keep them hot.  Put the hot dog buns and mustard in the cooler with the ice water.

In my book. nothing better than a good old plain  baloney sandwich, bottled water and maybe some chips.

Good Coffee,(Jamisons & Baileys), Gatorade, Deer jerky, BL for slow times.

PB&J, bag of chips, gatorade, and some juice boxes.

I refuse to eat any kind of sandwhich on regular bread unless its pb&j. I have a pack stove that I carry also, about the size of a small coffee can. Bought it for hunting... msr pocket rocket. I can heat up anything you can make at home on it. If its a sandwhich other than pb&j it must be on some kind of good roll or I wont eat it. Bologna and cheeze/crackers...

I dont mind sitting down now and then, gives you a couple mins to regroup. If its an 8hr tournament and I am just SMOKIN them left and right I wont eat. But if I am coming up short then I will eat and think about what I am doing and if I should adjust.

This is a genius idea, may have to try it, maybe try some Links as well!

I'm usually not out on a boat all day like some of you guys. When i am out on the boat, its usually early morning trolling for stripers or late evening and after dark casting for stripers and bass. In the mornings i usually havent eaten yet, sometimes i may have had a couple donuts or some sort of pastry and coffee, so i usually pack me a ham or turkey and cheese sandwich and take that with me, along with a cup of coffee or a cold soda and a bottle of water. In the evenings ive eaten dinner by then and am usually not hungry, its all about a cooler full of ice cold beer by then.

If i'm bank fishing ill eat something before i get there, i may take a couple small bags of peanuts or chips, maybe a granola bar or candy bar, just some basic snacks picked up from the store on the way. and a couple sodas or bottles of water. if i am night fishing for catfish i always have a cooler of budweiser within arms reach lol. and if im just going for an hour or so, i usually take nothing but a drink or two...

I don't eat on the boat unless i'm with a guide. G2 gatorade and skoal mint,

Lots of water, dried fruit to snack on and a toasted bacon& egg sandwich or two. In winter substitute a thermos of coffee for some of the waters and I will usually eat twice as much.

My dad lives off Vienna weenies when we go out. I think he keeps a case of them lying around just for fishing.

I always forget to eat. I try to bring sandwiches and chips, but if it is a tournament, I usually just bring a power bar type snack.

:Idontknow:

3-4 bottles of water, trail mix, chips, energy bar, and sometimes home made sandwiches. Most of the time, I will just stop and go to subway or something.
