How Many At Once?

Featured Replies

Last spring I caught 2 bass at once on a rogue jerkbait, and I've been seeing guys whack 2 or 3 at a time on the alabama rig all last year.  I'm gonna throw one this season to try and double up again, how many bass have you caught at once?

Two... on a crankbait... and they fought like a wet mop, not nearly as much fun as catching them individually.

In 40+ years, never more than one.

And based on this I hope I never catch more than one at a time.

I've doubled up a ton of times on lots of different kinds of baits, traps and shallow cranks seem to be the ones it happens with the most. I've thrown an A-rig a lot but never caught more than one at a time. I've had a couple times that both fish swam together pretty well and fought really hard. I've had other times they fought against each other and was just like dragging in a heavy branch.

I hit a bluegull that a pike ended up grabbing onto, fought it for a bit but he won, does that count?

Same as most. 2 bass under 1lb each on a crank bait.

As you can see in my pic, 2 on one bait is the most for me. They may be dinks, but it was fun nonetheless.

2 at once, one a crankbait, a 1lb er and a 4 lber

I have had 2 on a crank bait a few times. In the fall I fish a shakey head with a sunfly tied about a foot above it and have caught tons of double spots on it.

2 bass is the most I've caught on a lure and it was a square bill. My best is when I caught 3 jack crevelle on one jerkbait there was one fish on each treble hook.

On a Jitter bug at night caught a 3 pounder and a 1pounder both bass.  I thought I had a double digit fish on there.

Caught 2 on lures as well as a drop fly rig or double fluke, wet mop for sure.  Caught 2 stripers on umbrella rigs trolling, another wet mop.  I'd rather catch them 1 at a time.

Have done this many times, peacocks too, a different situation all together.  They do not swim in unison.

I fished in a Make-A-Wish event with Andy Poss, the man credited with inventing The Rig.

I have never caught a fish on the outside arms, never had a double or fished with any that

has. I have caught small doubles on crankbaits and been with a few friends that have, also.

Not sure if this counts for this particular topic, but when my fishing partner & I go smallie fishing, on a large hill-land reservoir, we've caught "quads" (four bass on simultaneously) several times in the past ten or so years. We each drop shot one rig and "set" a wacky rigged Senko, under a slip float on our second rig. Now I'm talking about 2 1/2 - 4 1/2 pound smallies here. Quite a fire drill when it happens! :)

never with bass, but once with white perch while fishing with night crawlers. had a single gold abeerdeen hook on. swung in a white perch up on the dock and another falls off, one was hooked in the mouth and the other i guess just hung on to the hook shank for the ride.
