Out With The Old...

Featured Replies

Lucky fishing hat that is. You know the one. Worn, battered, stained, sunbleached, smells. Yep. Im retiring my GLoomis ballcap. Its had a lot of mojo and has served me well.

My new one will help me step up my game. Costa Trucker Hat.

Time to get some slime on it!!!!

Whats your lucky hat? I know a guy that fishes in a mid 80s ZOOM bait company hat. Looks like something Hank Parker wore in his tournament days.

I have an Adidas hat I have been fishing in for a while now. Nowhere meer retirement.

My TILLEY AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK hat!!  Maybe 40 years old?  I call it "Vintage."

The good thing was that I was actually wearing the "right" hat....one with lots of brim and shade, years before it became popular to do so.

The inside reads:

"This is the Tilley Hat.  It is the best outdoor hat in the world.  It floats, ties on, repels rain and mildew, won't shrink, and will be replaced free if it wears out. (Yes, put it in your will)"

Can't beat that!!

my Lowrance trucker hat from the early 90's.  Found it on ebay and had to have it.

I've got a BPS hat I like to wear. Finally went with a brown hat that would hide the dirt a little better. Still going to have the sweat stains though I'm sure.

Finding a plain hat is tough.  I am not big on logo fishing apparel in general, hats in particular.  It is the whole idea of not desiring to be an unpaid walking human bill board.  I generally wear a wide brim hat, either a Columbia or an Oregon Research anti- sun hat and if I could remove the logos from those hats I would.

I do have a couple of "Fishing for Freedom" hats I was given when I participated in the wounded warrior project at Truman Lake, and while I might wear those to town or out and about,  I don't want to get them dirty by wearing them fishing.

When wearing it do you suddenly have the urge to tell everyone that you see that you caught a great big ol 7, 8, 9 pound bass on (insert lure name) fished on a (insert rod and reel name) spooled with (insert line name) covered with (insert scent name) while wearing (insert clothes and sunscreen name) and of course you couldn't have done any of it if you didn't have your Minn Kota trolling motor and your Power Pole down  :eyebrows:

Good stuff--beat me to it--LOL

I have a ton of hats, but always seem to grab one of two when going fishing...Chicago Cubs trucker hat or my fitted Indianapolis Colts hat. Both are in need of a bath!

My Chicago Bears hat I've had since the 80's.

Lately I've been wearing a wide brim, top ventilated hat as it's starting to warm up down here.

But my Bear hat is ALLWAYS with me.

The Fla sun from Apr to Oct will flat knock you down!!

My all time fav was a Budweiser cap that I had when I was about 15, or 16.  It met with an untimely death when my Mom decided it was dirty and needed a wash.  For the past 10 years or so it has been a couple of green BPS caps.

I have a Browning hat I wear these days.  Its not that old.  I use to have a Falcon rod hat that I used for about 10 years.  It finally wore out.

I don't think it is lucky but i wear my phillies fitted hat every time i go out.  This one has about 2 years on it and it replaced my old school phillies hat....baby blue and maroon logo.

I need to look at getting a replacement in the works though because it takes some time for me to break in a hat to the point where it is comfortable.
