Good Friends & Some Smallie Porn

A-Jay headed over to help get me dialed in on the smallies. We faced cold temps & extremely dirty water from a very unfriendly windy April. A-Jay managed to get a new PB despite the conditions. Another friend who saw his PB largemouth & and his PB smallie pictures nicknamed him big fish Andy.

The smallies were tight to the bottom most days & negated the jerk bait bite effectiveness. As the water cleared & warmed the fish moved shallower & started to suspend. After A-Jay left another pair or buddies took over where A-Jay left off. We found a good bite going in a remote location without all the boat traffic and started to lick our chops. Then the dreaded east wind afternoon pattern started. It lasted for about five days . Off shore southenly winds changing to stiff east wind in the afternoon which shut the bite off liked someone hit a light switch. We still managed to have fun & catch some nice smallies.

Beautiful!!!!

Those are truly Gargantuan Smallmouth! They're so broad from the side that their heads look tiny.

If I ever hooked one and it came up to the side of the boat....instant panic-attack!

The Scrounga's are having an Epic 2013, wouldn't ya say.

That was quite a memorable trip to Lake Erie, especially when a new PB is recorded.

While waiting (and hoping) for friendly conditions, I stayed a bit longer than we had initially planned.

Thanks for putting up with me for an extra week . . . . . . . . . .

As Dwight mentioned, the conditions really challenged us to get on anything consistent.

But Dwight is a gamer and he fishes hard.  It was all I could do to keep up.  The man is a Jerkbaitin' Machine.

In the end we did all we could do and were rewarded with some Fat Bronze.

We use 10 lb braid usually suffix 832 or suffix performance braid but any braid will work. The 10 lb braid get the baits down deeper and is adequate strength.

Beautiful Smallies!

Thanks for sharing.

I would say I'm green with ***, but that's the wrong color of fish, so count me brown. Amazing.
