How To Get The Fishy Smell Off

Featured Replies

I like the smell of bass but I don't want to be smelly all day around the house and whatnot cause other people don't like the smell.

What do you use to get the slime/smell of bass off your hands? I don't want to have to buy something though, just something at home. I have tried washing with soap and salt and it gets the slime but not the smell.

They work great, but you have to touch every area of your hands with them (no lather.) I don't use them for fish (just wash with soap,) but I do use them if I chop garlic or something like that.

Hahahaha. That was hilarious.

I use tooth paste as well.

Wipe your hands on you pants just as soon as you release the fish.

Lemon juice or vinegar.

just regular hand soap or dish soap, works fine for me. just rub your hands together real good with the soap for a couple minutes and then rinse...

I usually wash with soap and water, but other remedies:

Tomato juice

vanilla extract

activated charcoal

Vinegar works, too.

Wash thoroughly, rinse with vinegar then wash again with soap.

i use toothpaste first then since i dont like to go around with tooth paste smelling hands i use a lemon...also gets rid of the nasty ballyhoo smell and squid smells too lol

I will use dish soap, followed by hand sanitizer.  Same principal as alcohol I suppose.

Old school Crest toothpaste or a stainless steel "soap bar." work the best.

My sister gave me one of these about 5 years ago...I don't know if its do to the age, but the thing doesn't work???

Freshwater...just soap really.

But a day on the ocean ... I use bleach. Then I wash my hands with vinegar, to remove the bleach, then I just washed my hands with Softsoap. PITA I know, but it works ....

Time...and an undetstanding wife.

Washing hands with head and shoulders does wonders! I think it takes the fish oil off your hand, like it takes the oil off of hair.
