Whats up BR?

 

Over the last year my jig collection has grown quite a bit and I was wondering how all of you store and manage yuur jigs.

 

Basically, what iv'e noticed happening is that when the jigs pile up on top of one another, they start to lose strands and get some wear and tear business going on. Some of my recent purchases of jigs Im really trying to take care of (siebert outdoors) and was wondering if you guys have any certain tactics of keeping your jigs in good shape. 

 

Below is a picture of my jigs. My small siebert collection so far are in the bags on the right.

 

I use a Plano Elite 3707 Spinnerbait Organizer - it holds up to 45 jigs secure no bouncing afound. Also you can see the head shape and color it makes it easy to tell what jids are what.

I don't have as many jigs as you, but I use a Plano Hydro-Flo box. I like it because it drains away the water and keeps the hooks, wire bands, and any other metal parts from getting rusted out.

I use plain Plano 3700's, about half a dozen of them now packed to the gills with jigs. 

 

Get the smallest zip ties you can find and zip tie those skirts if they aren't tied on with wire or thread, you'll have way fewer of them falling apart that way and it isn't going to bother the fish. You can even get colored sharpies and match them to the color of your jig a little bit.

I keep all mine organized and such, I love my Falcon FT 0700 Jig and Spinnerbait box.....

 

 

I can put two 1/2 oz jigs on top of each other or three 1/4 in each slot.

Very True,  Especially if they are wet.

 

Mike,  I put mine in a 3700 plano just like you but I put all the dividers in them and separate each jig. 

I learned my lesson about that left one tied on and when out for my next fishing trip and was like O_O what happened but now when I get home I take my jig box and sit it next to the vent to dry out.

I use the 3700 waterproof(red gasket). 3 big latches and actually water proof. i make sure jigs are dry before going back in though.

I have two BPS 370 boxes dedicated to jigs.  1/2 and 3/8 in one box. 1/4 and 1/8 in the second box.  I sort them by weight, and color, keeping the same brands together.  Same weights go in columns across, and the same colors go in rows up and down.  When I lose one I know its weight, color, and who made it by the empty spot in the box.

I carry 3 plano 3700 boxes and sort by weight and approximate color. Looking at some of the pics you guys must not lose too many jigs? I have lost over 25 finesse jigs in one outing so I make and carry a few spare.

I like this idea.  I have one of those boxes that I don't use because I don't like the way it bends my spinnerbait wires.

Dreamertino, you took the words right out of my mouth.

 

A few other pointers for increasing the lifespan of your jigs. When you're done with a particular jig for the day, remove the trailer and dunk the jig back in the water to wash off any salt or weed residue. Then take a few moments to wipe it dry, before putting it in your tackle box.

 

In addition, let them dry out of your box overnight. Moisture and organic plant matter will rot silicone, as well as rubber skirts, over time.
