This is a massive landslide of epic porportions.  Several people are dead, nearly 2 dozen are missing.  It's also dammed up the river, and they're expecting a breach with flash flooding downstream.  it could be devastating.

I havent watched the news in a while, too busy and trying to fish on weekends.

Good Lord.  Looks like someone sliced that mountain in half.

5:30 radio news in Richmond, Virginia said that 18 individuals are missing and there are a number of confirmed deaths.

 

This is not supposed to happen in America.

The slide was 1 1/2 miles wide, 15-20' deep.  8 confirmed dead so far, 18 missing, including a 4-month-old baby.  They're still searching.

 

We've had the wettest March on record, and it's not over yet.

Wow thats insane we just drove through there on Saturday. Hope they find the missing

New update, now they're saying 176 are "reported" missing. It's a very "squishy" number since there may be multiple instances of duplicate reports.  These are not casualties, but number of reports of missing people. 

 

The number will change - hopefully downward.

Just put this into perspective, the death toll is likely to be higher than the deaths caused by the massive E5 tornado that ripped through Moore OK last year.

The 4-month-old's body was found today, not far from her grandmother's body, who was babysitting her.

 

Current tally:  25 dead, 90 more missing, with another 35 who authorities are unsure were in the area when the hillside collapsed.
