Well, she isn't huge but she taught me a painful lesson...don't use your ribcage as a brace! Yup, cracked a rib trying to horse her out of the pads. :stupid:

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

Hard to tell what's bigger, your smile or the fish.  Congrats!

I'm tellin' ya, it was an exciting time. That lake is super pressured, so fish like that are few and far between in there.

Ok when you say cracked a rib cage do you mean to say that you had to have some type of medical attention after you’re fishing session or are you being sarcastic?

Sorry to say I'm being quite serious. I didn't bother with medical treatment because now a days they don't bind up a cracked/broken rib. It hurts like hell but she was worth it!

Take care of yourself @LadiMopar. Health is the most important thing we have.

Finally broke a cold spell.

Until today, it has been over a month since I landed a bass over 3lbs.

Had several opportunities, but never got them in the boat.

Caught this girl on a local power plant reservoir with a whopper plopper 130.

She was 21.5 inches long and weighed 6lb. 2oz.

It was the strangest whopper Plopper bite I ever had. Sounded like a carp sucking on the top, then the bait just disappeared.

She jumped 3 times. I thought she was going to spit the heavy bait and extend my cold spell.

Luckily she had a mouth full of bait with both hooks embedded in.

Counting this fish I have been fortunate enough to catch seven bass over 5lbs.,this year. Three of them were over 6lbs.,

hopefully in the next couple months I can add a few more to the list.

Great to finally get back out on the water again. Caught some nice spots and the peak fall bite is getting soooo close.

This past Thursday, also at lunch hour.  Started with same Texas rig worm as day before, but switch to spinner after seeing some bait fish breaking.  Strike King Mini Spinner 1/8oz.  Single fish of the day.  My single fish from the prior day was much larger and probably a solid +4lbs.  This guy was closer to 2-3lbs.  I really try to play the fish quickly, land by lipping and keeping the fish from touching anything once out of the water.  Consequently, I don't get photos next to my pole for scale.

I'm not good taking photos solo.  Any suggestions?

Had a good evening catching several decent bass and this guy on a weightless wacky stick worm. Gave this old man a real workout.

Been dinkin it up lately. Not much time to fish either with strange weather and other goings on.

Last weekend made a poor Saturday fishing trip into a decent Sunday on Briery Creek. Sandy Res Saturday did her typical Sandy disappearing fish act. Marked bait everywhere. I caught 2 bass in 9 hours. My buddy got a decent one kinda early but it was same story for him the rest of the day. Couple dinks was all we could muster.

Briery turned the weekend around pretty well. My buddy snagged a 5lber right off the bat, too bad it was short of citation size by 1/2”. The rest of the day we found pockets of bass in some shallow coves but not in others. And a few scattered around in deeper water in main lake.

Both of of us missed hook sets on a nice sized fish which we assumed to be the same fish since it was on the same tree.

Ive been fishing a Keitech 7.8 for about a year now off and on and had yet to get a solid bite on it until a 3.5lber smashed it! First fish on the big ol paddle tail, had to get a pic of that. The bigger one of the day, 4.5lber, came on a 4” Keitech, along with most of my other fish that day.

This weekend a friend of mine got married Saturday and that meant no good chance for fishing. Today around 4:00 I managed to ease off the hangover and waddled my way to a pond about 15 minutes walk from where I live. Caught a dink, then made a cast to a lay-down tree top out in a cove in about 3FOW. Tiniest little tick and then the line started pulling. Set the hook and knew it was a good fish but she was swimming towards me so didn’t get the full picture until she came up just in front of me and flashed that big belly! She made a run under a log and dragged the line around across it for a few very tense seconds! Then I almost fell in the pond trying to get closer to the grass line so I could grab her! 6.0 pounds on the nose and she went 22-1/4”

Citation baby! Fall is here and I feel the big bass fever!!

Stuck a nice one this evening on a 10 inch curly tail worm. First time night fishing for bass and I don’t know why I never thought it would work well. Anyways...

@Gundog I want you to know that I appreciated your words of wisdom to take care of myself after last weeks rib breaking event, but I am in some ways a glutton for punishment, call me crazy, or whatever else might come to mind but somehow sitting in my yak in pain is still better than sitting at home in the chair lamenting the fact that the months of frozen water are not far off.

So, I went out Sunday and bagged 5.

Took advantage of the warmer than normal temps. to head out for some smallies. Took a while to find them but did OK. Looks like they are starting to fatten up for the winter.

Nothing too big, but boy what a fight.

IMG_1792.jpgIMG_1795.jpgIMG_1796.jpg

after getting 10 inches of rain in the last 5 days, I was itching to get out on the water.

A cold front and 15-20 mph were not ideal conditions, but i was determined to go out anyway.

spent about 5 hours riding the waves and cranking rip rap, with a kvd 1.5, on my favorite power plant lake.

caught 7 bass these 2 were the biggest. 3lb 14oz. and 3lb 6oz.

of course a day of crankbait fishing, in Kansas, is not complete without a couple drum hammering your bait and taking off like a freight train.

My wife rarely has a hair out of place which is what made this photo so funny to me. It was windy on the Big G yesterday and it was hitting her right in the back of the head. She’s a fan of Guy Fieri of “Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives.”  I told her she looked like Guy’s twin sister, whom I called “Guydean,”

Congratulations on what looks like a fun day for you and the Mrs.'s . I see she uses a spincaster. That's all my wife uses too. Nobody will ever convince me they aren't capable of handling big fish.

I’ve had a bit of a slump for most of the summer and have been routinely catching small spotted bass right at sunrise using a 90 series Whopper Plopper in one small area around the neighboring pier.

Little fella fought above his weight class. I thought it was bigger as I was reeling it in.

My brother and I both caught our new PERSONAL BESTS today!!!

I caught mine on a 3/0 EWG screw lock Trokar with a BioSpawn Black/Blue worm with a 1/4oz bullet weight.  Tail looked bloody and was mutilated like it was spawning.  Absolute MONSTER and no way it was any less than 5lbs!

Brother landed one on a belly-weighted 3/0 hook with the same BioSpawn black/blue worm as me.

I'm estimating his was a good 3.5-4lb fish!

We were both shaking with adrenaline and excitement afterwards - they were SO d**n BIG!!!  :D

Just so you know - War Eagle spinnerbaits are fun!
