@Pat Brown I had the same feeling! I got up about an hour later than you did, but going to bed early and getting up early is a new routine I'm trying to adapt to. Gives me time to fish in the morning before work and let's me spend my evenings with my family. Today was the first day trying it. Only got one good fish, but getting up early has given a pep to my step as I walk into work instead dragging myself in like I used to. Very nice fish!

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

Got on the water at "Lake 28" for 3 hours, 6am-9am.

Only my 5th ever trip to this place (less than 18 hours total, according to my records), so I'm still kind of figuring it out.   I did catch a 4lber here last year.

Nothing that nice today, but I got a few (9), including my first few topwater bass of the year on a frog Pop Max....and a few more on the obligatory Super Fluke:

Biggest fish was 15", the rest between 12" an 14"

Good fishing, gang! I'm out of reactions...AGAIN!

I had 45 minutes to fish and caught these two small fish out of the river, dill pickle d bomb with a 1/16 oz brass weight. The last one put up a nice fight but was no match for my zillion mhh rod. I didn’t get skunked and caught a couple fish. It was a good day.

Made it out to the New Reservoir today.  69 degrees and partly cloudy. Winds from the NNE at 2mph.

Started out around the boat ramp today and landed 5 on the floating worm.

Here’s the biggest one I caught there….

…and the average size fish below

My worm and I wore out or welcome there so I took a deer trail through the woods to get to the lower end and the dam.  Along the way I stopped at a few spots where I could access the bank and landed a couple more.

Added 4 more around the lower end and the dam, this time with the weightless senko.  Typical size shown below.

Accidentally posted the same fish twice 🤦🏻‍♂️

@bp_fowler I totally forgot the floating worm exists. Definitely a great thing to be throwing right now, thanks.

Great day!

It’s been gangbusters for me so far this spring.  Especially shines around shallow vegetation.

Are you T-rigging it, BP? And does it literally float like a surface lure?

Yeah, and my lake is flooded. Bass are either in the bushes or suspended. That could be the deal, right there.

I don’t know if I’m comfortable including it in my DD hunt rotation, but rumor has it that disco and I are fishing together soon and of course it will be just “fun fishing”

@ol'crickety Yes, it’s t-rigged but weightless, or as some folks call it “Texposed”.  It doesn’t float but sinks verrrrrry slooowly.  I’m throwing it on 10# braid to an 8# f/c leader, w/ a Gamakatsu 2/0 offset hook.   I’d imagine on straight braid or mono it’d sink even slower or faster with a bigger hook.

My only caveat is that it seems to do better for me in clearer water, YMMV.

Still 4-5ft visibility up by the marina where we will be fishing 👍🏻. 4-5ft visibility is dirty for that area of Stillhouse

Squeezed in a few hours this afternoon on a local reservoir. Started out with a swim jig fishing shallow to pads and pitching laydowns with nothing to show for it. Moved out into deeper water off the banks and finally found a few biters. Ended with 3 keepers and a couple nice bonus crappie. Water temps into the upper 70s at the moment.

Me and the boy will fish lures a while, then fish worms, then back to lures.

Funny, he has better luck with a texas rig than actual worms - they pick him clean.

Snuck in a quick half hour before dinner and got one skinny dude on the Heavy Poop which was just what I needed after the shellacking I took Monday night. Several windy overnights at 40* really cooled things off and I didn't get a sniff, so anything was good after that.

Got a second wind after dinner and a dog walk, so I shot up for a night sesh. It was a tough bite again, just bluegills on wake baits, but I found a solid one finally dragging a Green Pumpkin Saffire Caffeine Shad.

Spent an hour at the pond this morning from 6:45-7:45. Caught one little guy my third or fourth cast and zero action for the rest of that time. The good news is these bass seem to be healthier than they were last year, although we'll see how that goes as the year progresses. As I've mentioned before, this pond sees a ton of pressure.

I have such admiration for anglers like @IcatchDinks who fish pressured ponds.

That’s the river for you, something new on the bank every time. Keeps it interesting, truly I wish that people didn’t litter. Although that’s like saying everyone had a brain and I am not convinced of that one bit yet lol.

I got out for 45 more minutes after work today and caught two little pip squeaks on the same d bomb from yesterday. I tried the reel tight and rod sweep hook set. I liked my results and it felt pretty good.

Murph, your getting into dangerous territory again. Gimruis said he was taking a break from hair enforcement citations, he didn't say he was giving it up! You and Bazoo are poking the bear!

Yeah I am going to take the clippers to my hair again when I find a decent cheap set again lol. I probably have grease in my hair from my press changeovers from last night. We don’t grease our presses enough or way too much and it gets all over you when you have a changeover, it’s why I wear grubby clothes. There’s no sense in wearing pristine clothes to work just to get them filthy, not that I wear clothes by choice. I only wear clothes because they say that it’s illegal if I go outside naked lol.
