The river I fish was really blown out today, but since it's a tailwater, the mud hadn't made its way through the reservoir yet, and I decided to try and catch a bass. The places I normally walk around on (dry land) to fish would have been well over my head in depth and had too much current rolling through them for a bass (largemouth) to even think about setting up shop. There were some very small eddies up against the bank that I figured the bass had to be sitting in, there was no where else to go! The brush was pretty bad so I would walk up, and drop the bait straight into the brush. Water was pretty cold so I would just jiggle the shakey head around a little bit then dead stick it in 5-10 second intervals. Shockingly I caught 7 bass in about 2 hours. I didn't even expect a bite!

I pulled two 2lb bass from this eddy on back to back pitches (more like freespool's to the bottom)

My last bass of 2015. I caught this last week and decided I would put the gear away for the winter

My sister and bro law flew in for the holiday so we all did some fishing. My bro law was most interested in trying to catch a salmon because he never has had an opportunity to fish for them. So we went with medium shiners and a split shot rig.

My sister caught this salmon not long after we got set up. She had a huge birds nest and after it all got cleaned up it turns out a fish was on the line. The legend of the salmon lives!

This bass inhaled the hook. A littler work but we got it out no problem and the fish was on its way good to go

Tyler caught his first pickerel ever. They don't have these where he is from. It started squirming and he threw it back in lol

We put some weight on plenty of pickerel on this day. They were taking shiners left and right

Landlocked Atlantic salmon look a lot like browns, the fish pictured look to be salmon to me.

The jaw in relation to the eye on salmon and brown trout is similar to spots vs. largemouth. (The jaw on a salmon does not extend beyond the eye)

Caught 8 today after school. River was up and had every fish within 3 feet of the bank. I caught some on a shakey head but it got hung up too much so I fished a 1/8oz texas rig with a trick worm and a baby d-bomb. Fished SLLLOOOWWWW. Any bass is a victory for me from December through mid March!

Baby d-bomb is still catching here in VA. I had to go to a 1/16oz texas rig though, the fish are so slow that 1/8th was not doing it. They don't really fight in these temperatures  :laugh5:

Negative. It's a Lake Fork Flutter spoon, and apparently you're supposed to fish it like a texas rig. That's what I learnt from a couple youtube videos anyway. Never fished a casting spoon before this morning; lots to learn..

Neat, never caught any fish on any type of spoon ever, so definitely lots to learn!

I used to throw a Little Cleo back in the day. Slayed the white bass. So many tactics, so little time.
