How does everyone store, or put away, their ds setups? This seems like the only one that always messes up my rod locker.

Weight keepers like this make life much easier.

My rod has one of these but it leaves an open hook that seems to grab everything. Either I hook by the weight and the hook tangles up on everything or I hook by the hook and the weight gets twisted around everything. I tried spinning the rod around a few times but then I can never get the weight untangled on itself.

I hook the weight in this and then spin the line around the rod a few times and hook the line on the opposite side of the stripper guide. It keeps the hook and line pined against the blank.

Use the drop shot hook keeper for the weight, wrap the line around the rod, then put a rod glove over it. This is what I do and I have never had a problem.

Hmmmm, I never store rods with stuff rigged on them so ..... It goes into the rod tube for storage.

Hook in the hook keeper then a rubber band or fuji ez keeper for the weight in between the split grips for me.

I put my hook on the keeper and then use a BPS Drop Shot keeper to hold the weight. Then put the whole thing in a Rod Glove and Reel Glove and into the locker it goes.Your other option would be to put the weight in the holder you have and buy a Fuji EZ holder and hook the hook onto that.

I carefully hook the hook in a guide frame (never in the guide itself) about halfway up the rod and slip a rod sock over everything.   The dropline with the weight ends up in the sock and not able to cause a mess.    The hook is also protected by the guide frame and not able to get caught in the sock.

x2. With 4 girls there is a hair tie lying around somewhere. I even have my pick of neon colors.

Remove reel.

Store in a rod holder cabinet with the rod standing straight up.

Store in house to keep out of cold temperatures.

When use it next year put new line on reel.

Put reel on rod.

Set it up.

Ready to go.

That is what I do for the winter. I was jsut curious during the season in a rod locker that doesn't have dividers. It seems like this is the only rod I have problems with.

Secure the weight with a piece of velcro tie strap.  

 

You can get the velcro tie strap at any hardware store and then cut it into pieces, wrap the soft fuzzy side toward the rod directlt above the weight.
