What kind of line do you prefer for topwaters?

I like mono. Need it to float, and prefer having some stretch for any trebles.

Mono for everything except frogs

I like copolymer except for frogs. 

Mono 'cause it floats or braid, depending on the bait and presentation I want.

 

Braid on frogs and toads all the time.

Makes no difference to the fish or me.  4# braid. for everything.

As for knots, again it all depends what type of topwaters. For walking baits and floating minnows, I like a loop, or Rapala knot. For spoons and frogs, I prefer a palomar. For most others it will be one or the other depending on the action I'm trying to achieve.

Braid to mono leader of about 7 feet.

I fish all braid on all my rods, but choose to swap to either mono or FC topshots depending.  So if it was a frog or buzzbait, straight braid.  Popper or walking bait, then would fish a 10-15ft mono topshot.

30# braid with short flouro leader.

I'm rather surprised how few people use braid. I really like braid for walk the dog baits, the lack of stretch really seems to help that action.

Braid on any topwater.

Mono for me

I have always used braid. Most top waters I do are walk the dog type lures, so I don't know if switching to mono would be a benefit in regards to action.

Walking baits get 30lb braid and poppers get mono. With walking baits, I want more snap and the lack of stretch lets me really bomb them and get a good hookup at long distance. Also, they tend to have bigger hooks than the poppers I use so I'm not as worried about losing them.

Poppers seem to do better for me with some forgiving line ala suffix siege.
