Color Buzzbait

Featured Replies

As the days are getting longer and the temperature starts rising, more and more people are going to get the "bass topwater fever". On my River system that I live on, that usually occurs around May. My question is, what color buzzbait is your favorite? I'm talking about an all around good color that catches fish. I know to use Cavitron Buzzbaits but not sure on the color.

Thanks a bunch a good fishin!

I use white when it is sunny.

Black when it is cloudy and overcast.

That's it for me.

I fish black at least 90% of the time.

Even when it's sunny?

Black on black, skirt and blade.

On spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, I use chartreuse and white exclusively. I don't night fish, or I would add black and blue into the arsenal.

Yes, I use black at least 90% of the time, sunny, cloudy, windy, calm, clear, rainy, clear water, stained water, dirty water, doesn't matter.

...and if its real windy and your trying to make precise cast , then take the skirt off. No color .

Black on black, skirt and blade.

This and only this.

Making a mistake there, black or black and blue buzzbaits or bladed jigs are some of my best big fish baits, even in the middle of the day and especially if it's cloudy. It produces a big, solid profile that attracts big fish.

All on a 3/8 black on black Cavitron in afternoon.

If I remember right, you fish really muddy waters. My ponds aren't that muddy, and chartreuse/white is a great producer for me, so I don't feel the need to switch.

Nice fish, by the way.

Some, but not all. One of my most productive middle of the day buzzbait lakes you can see bottom in 10-20 feet of water year round and watch fish come up and eat the bait off the surface. Might give it a try sometime, I didn't think it would work either.

i have caught most of my buzzbait fish on white, white/red, white/silver color combinations.

although, i would not rule out the black colors as mentioned.

listen to Bluebasser86, he knows where its at. Heck its in his profile name!!! BLUEbasser86.

I throw Cavitrons and use black about 75% of the time and I made a custom Sexy Shad skirt that I use about 25% of the time.

I have black and white. I'v caught more on black.

Black and white cover it for me.  With single blade I typically like plastic blades white with clear and black with black.  For double buzz I really like the D and M double hammer, mainly in black.

I actually break down buzzbaits kind of by where I'm fishing and what (I think) the forage may be.  If I'm in a clear lake with no real structure around and mainly open water I will generally throw white.  However, if I'm around grass that is matted in areas, or rock bank/tules/anything of that sort I will throw the black, I think the black with large trailer (brush hog/6"lizard) looks more like a bird or rat/muskrat

my top buzzbaits are a black cavitron with red blade and the humdinger with chartreuse and blue skirt with the blue blade.  all black is also really good like the war eagles and i always go with a 3/8 oz

A white buzzbait is my number one producer. If its not white its not right.

I use white most of the time.

Wesley Snipes said it best... "Always bet on Black"
