Anyone Not Care About There Combos Appearance Or Colors?

Featured Replies

So I was looking Amy stuff and a buddy commented on my combos while over. I fish halo starlight ( yellow handles on the red blank) and daylight series ( plain black) and then what ever reel I prefer in them. I've never cared about appearance or color schemes as long as the performance and feel is there. It just doesn't matter to me. But it got me thinking do some guys actually try to match this stuff and care what there equipment looks like?

  • Life is too short to fish with ugly equipment. I plan rods around reels I have and buy reels to match rods I plan to build.

Bass fising, don't really care.  When I worked charterboats or fished on them I had custom wrapped rods with the same color scheme's on them to make them eaiser to identify especially if there are 200 rods on the boat.  That little bit of color when you set it down makes it easer to spot as well as keeping an eye out if someone accidently trys to walk off with it at the end of the day.

I definitely care. It's half the fun having cool stuff. Wait till you start thinking about making your own stuff, then you'll really spend some time trying to match colors and getting creative.

I match my rods and reels by weight. I have 5 Alphas and an SS SV. These sre spooled with either 8 or 10 , and mounted on my lightest power rods. My 4 Zillions get 14 , and are on my heaviest power rods. In the middle of the pack are 5 Fuegos, 2 TD-Z, and a Viento. These are spooled with 12, and are on the rest of the rods.

What they look like has no bearing on the pairing.

I don't care about my clothes, why would I care about my gear? ;)  Now my guns, they gotta look nice!

I may have such a problem.  Considering I have had stuff custom painted to match lol.  But I still like using stuff that doesnt match and just works.  Can I say I have some of both side of the argument?

Lol of course ya can! It's neat to see folks opinions on the subject!

Doesn't really bother me if my rods & reels don't match. Whatever feels & works best together stays together.

Different strokes :)

See the neat thing is how many different ways there are to skin the proverbial cat, and each individual's taste is different. There are as many answers and perspectives as there are colors in the Ito catalog.

I wanted to spread it around, personally. I do also want to keep my small quiver as sexy as it can be. I can only have a few rods so you bet they are eye candy haha

I do hear ya there I also only have a a few combos. But I like it that way. And I just don't care about the looks thing strictly performance lol

Don't care at all, and I mean at all. This is confirmed by The 6 cabelas green zillions I have :)

Feel > looks. If it all looks good, so much the better.

Looks dont matter but i like line with color i dont care for clear line.i have 30 spools of line mostly green yo zuri ,solar collector And green big game and some red triple fish.

I dont care other than I prefer a black rod.

I am considering a Duckett Ghost for my latest reel purchase but really dont like the white color...

I won't buy a rod due to color. A great example is the red or yellow Halo rods the OP mentioned. I don't like those two colors so I won't spend 'my' money on them. I would never buy a vehicle that color either.

Performance. Value then looks last. Quality equipment always looks good to me no matter the color or match.

If it works and it doesn't cost me a weeks pay, I don't care what color it is.
