I'm looking for a resolution to a problem. I've tried zoom speed craw and paca craws on T-Rigged terminal tackle but as I'm working them through the water, they start rolling over and over, or they come through the water upside down with the hook/belly side up.

I recently bought some MegaStrike Shaky Head jigheads and haven't tried a craw on them yet. Just wondering if you guys have had issues trying to get a craw to "crawl correctly" through the water. Thanks.

Pick up some keel weighted hooks.

Commonly known here as the Rage Rig.

For the standard size I use a 5/0, smaller ones use a 4/0.

Either a 3/8 or 1/4 oz will do nicely.

Make sure the bait is rigged straight.  Next, try using the largest hook you can get away with - UV Craw - a 3/0 does work.  For the mid-size Paca you can use a 4/0 and a 5/0 if you're using the big Paca.  

 

Also may want to try using belly weighted swimbait hook with the screwlock keeper.  

 

One last thing to think about.  When you're crawling those things along the bottom they don't have the tendency to spin like they do when you're speed reeling it back to the boat to fire off another cast.

I have used slider spider heads and haven't had this issue at all that I know of. Fished it mostly with yum craw bugs, but sometimes the zoom speed craw. If it did roll over on me, that was what the fish wanted, it has been an awesome combo for me over the years.

I have craws , lizards and worms twisting often  . I   try to get them straight but it happens.  I dont worry too much about it. They will still get bit . Line twist is a nuisance though .

Honestly, I don't see how people get line twist with texas rigs. As long as you rig the creature straight on, there should be no line twist or spinning of the rig. Even if you don't manage to position the bait straight on, it should be fine, as the weight of the hook helps stabilize the bait. I fish usually with soft plastics, and I have not had one instance of a rage craw twisting or turning on a t-rig. The only problem I had was with weightless flukes barrel-rolling.

Agree with Catt but the Rage Rig will let you swim it slowly also.

I pour smaller football heads with a 3/0 hook and throw all my craws on it. I glue in a weed guard in half the batch so I can use either weedless or exposed. It works extremely well for me. The football head shape keeps them upright and they don't catch weeds much because they aren't giant heads.

When ever I hear line twist I have to assume they are using spinning gear. I can't recall ever having twist on a casting reel no matter what lure I use or how it's rigged. I know I have had it from spooling a reel wrong and it is definetly a problem.

Maybe it's flipping under water on the bottom. I haven't noticed and neither has the fish
