does green pumpkin and watermelon colored plastics work well in dirty water or is it best to stick to the black,blue,etc?

I have caught fish out of dirty water with greens and browns, but I have more confidence in darker colors in that situation like black/blue or junebug. I don't think it matters to the fish.

my home waters are notorious for being dirty and i fish a Green pumpkin variant more times than not. The only time I goto black/blue/purple is when the water is muddy from run off or rising.

Yes, they work. I use watermelon senkos all the time in my waters and it is fairly stained. I will sometimes dip the tail in chartreuse dye.

I don't have many dark colored plastics and I also don't encounter many muddy water situations.  When I do, I just dip a good portion of the bait in chartreuse dye like ABW and have fairly good success given the conditions.

Green pumpkin was about the only color they'd eat in the muddy water Thursday night. 

My favorite are has very muddy (clay silt) water and Green Pumpkin is one of the colors I use most.

* Cloudy : Green Pumpkin

 

Stained :

* Sunny : Green Pumpkin , California Craw / California 420

* Cloudy : Green Pumpkin , Junebug , Black & Blue

 

Muddy :

* Sunny : Junebug , Black & Blue

* Cloudy : Black & Blue

 

Although above is REAL simplified - I hope this helps ...I'm starting to love the some what new California Craw / California 420 color for most any conditions now (along with the always good Green Pumpkin).

When I fish muddy water Green Pumpkin will out catch June Bug/Black and Blue 4:1.

really? wow glad i picked up some of this color then. academy had the trick worms on sale and ive already got plenty of black or junebug etc so i figured id try somethin diffferent

I don't know what it is but I've always have done better with natural colors. Perhaps it's because I've never had that much confidence when using darker colored plastics. But I still have great success using black and blue jigs and bladed jigs in muddy water  

Clear Water :

* Sunny : Watermelon , Watermelon Candy , Watermelon Red

* Cloudy : Green Pumpkin

* Sunny : Green Pumpkin , California Craw / California 420

* Cloudy : Green Pumpkin , Junebug , Black & Blue

Do not throw black& blue or Junebug in clear water during sunny skies or on cloudy days cause the aint on the list.

Do not throw watermelons or green pumpkins in muddy water during any sky conditions cause the aint on the list.

And I definitly can not use redbug, tequila sunrise, red shad, baby bass, or any other color cause they aint on no list.

Like I said : This is REAL simplified !!

Fish what ever color you want - Red Bug , Plum Apple , Kiwi , etc. plus many other colors not listed will work great at certain times .

We can agree on one thing : If undecided - your best bet probably is Green Pumpkin !

I don't fish a ton of stained or even colored water, but the few times I do, dipping the tail & / or appendages in chartreuse colored Spike It Dip-N-Glo Worm Dye seems to help.

 

And though I have no idea how Garlic ever made it into bass scent / attractant - I'm glad it did.

I like green pumpkin for stained and muddy conditions but my favorite is a 5in black senko with a blue tail.  

"borrowed" my brothers berkley powerworms in green pumpkin today and thats the only color theyre hitting in my brown murky water. go figure
