Looking forgood American made rods.

St croix, Kistler, loomis have lines of rods that are made in the USA. There's probably more companies but those are the ones I know off the top of my head

Falcon, St. Croix, G.Loomis, Edge Rods, and Cousins rods, and I almost forgot Lamiglas. I only count the ones who manufacture their own blanks, Kistler still uses over seas blanks and has assembly done off shore as well with the magnesium and carbon steel lines. I understand St. Croix builds the Rage in Mexico but it is their own blank, so the American rod companies they make their own stuff is what I have listed, I'm sure there are a few more I

There is a difference between assembled components in the USA verses rod making in the USA.

Rod making means laying up the rod blank in the USA, then assembling the reel seat, handles and guide train in the USA. Very few bass rods are layed in the USA today, most of the bass rods blanks are made off shore and assembled here and claim to be made in the USA.

Lamiglas, G. Loomis and St Croix make some bass rods the USA and also import some lower end rod blanks.

Don't over look custom rod builders who purchase blanks from these companies and assemble components.

Lamiglas Excel and Excel 2 were/are off shore blanks, with the Excel 2 being entirely built overseas.

Yes I believe they make their own blanks using their own uni-directional process but they use components that are from overseas companies like the fuji reel seats and guides then they assemble in house. 

Even some of the smaller rod companies like Rapsody make their blanks in mexico. The Rod Geek blanks are from Mexico as well.

I thought they did. I didn't want to give out false info though. Yeah I knew about the components. It'd be tough to not use Fuji stuff or other companies. My first 'good' rod was a Cashion that was an off the shelf offering but I spoke with Matt on the phone and had him use a different reel seat that isn't standard on his rods.

I understand the attraction of Made in the USA, no one's more patriotic than I am. Remember though, that even products manufactured elsewhere support American importers, designers, engineers, sales people, marketers, truck drivers, etc. St Croix Blanks are among the very best and happen to be American made to boot. But they cost. 

I recently bought a Vietnamese built Major Craft MS-X Limited and there is not a flaw in the rod. I mean it's beautiful and perfect in every way. It's exactly what you would expect from any manufacturers flagship bass rod. Now I love G-Loomis and for what their rods cost, every one of them should be perfect in every way but sadly they are far from it. I am patriotic myself but it seems there are times when buying American Made may not be the best way to go so my point is to keep your options open.

It is almost impossible to build a rod with 100% USA made components. Unless you use pine bark or birch bark, your only other grip option is wood. You're limited to those butt-ugly Recoils for guides and a REC aluminum reel seat. Find some old stock Gudebrod for your thread and you're all set!

I like my Chinese made rods, the performance I look for is equal to or surpasses rods I've had from other countries or twice the price. 

St Croix is the only American rod company that I fish, though I do have a couple of their Rage and Mojo Bass rods that are assembled in Mexico.

 

One company on the West Coast that's putting a lot of advertisement in the Fish Sniffer and that I've seen in a couple of local tackle shops, is Cousins Tackle.  Felt a few in one of the stores and they felt great in hand, though I haven't seen too many reviews on them.  100% made in Huntington Beach (SoCal) and it looks like they have a lot of East Coast stores.

I know I'm nitpicking, but not 100% made in CA. They have Fuji guides and reelseats (China) and cork (Portugal). St Croix is the same, Fuji and Kigan (Korea) guides and Fuji seats.

If you want a 100% USA made rod, you'll have to go Custom. Its going to be expensive and it will not perform as well as it could. To get the best possible performing rod, it requires global diversity.

I wonder how long it will be before someone sues and rod companies have to start saying "assembled in usa using foreign and domestic parts".

Cousins is known for thier salt water rods, fresh water is a new item.
