What brand , series and length worm do you like best for using with a Neko Rig ?

I'm after a worm which is a little softer , has more fluid movement and at least has some semi-floating capability versus the current Zoom Finesse and Trick Worm I currently use .

 

ZMan TRD

Zman TRD is hard to beat.  I've also used a torn half of a senko or torn half of a cut r worm, but prefer the TRDs.

Zoom Double Ringer.

Are you talking Neko rig or Ned rig?  Two different rigs.   TRD's are more of a Ned rig bait IMO.  I think you want your neko rig to be longer.

Anyway, another rig that I carry in the boat but don't fish very often.   I'd choose Trick worms or Strike King makes some Elas-tech straight tail worms that are 6 or 7 inches long, might try those.   The original floating worm - Danny Joe Humphries Floating worm might be a good choice if you can find them  - they're hard to find.   If you want to go bubba, Netbait makes their version of a trick worm in a 10" or 11" version.  

I don't see why a ribbon tail worm wouldn't work for this technique either.   Something like a 6 or 7 inch culprit or the 7" Power worm.  Just random thoughts - hope they help

Try using the bio spawn exo stick! Great bait for the neko rig!

No problem - will add I saw a couple of worms that might work on a Neko rig : a Robo Fat Worm 6" or 7" length and a Reins Swamp Mover 6" and Bubbling Shaker 7" worm ...I have not used any of these three worms yet though .

only thing that kept me from trying a couple of worms that i had was the worm was too skinny too hold the neko weight effectively (normal size roboworm and some ribbed worms i had)

i think i'm going to try a kut tail or pro senko now based on the suggestions above....

Good replies and considerations - yes the nose of the worm can't be too skinny to accept the Neko weight !

Reaction innovations has a newer worm out. Can't think of the name.  Pocket rocket I think. 

I think the key to a Neko rig set up is a worm that is approx. 6" ~ 7" length , with a nose large enough to accept a weight and lastly with enough action and flexibility to giove good action ... An old timer I met at DSG recently likes the 6" Strike King KVD worm - but then he looked around and said he was going to hoard all of the 6" ElazTech worms from Z-Man in GP and Junebug colors for himself for the Neko rig (too funny !!) ... I would have to think that a 6" ElazTech worms would stand up great and perform well with the Neko rig ...

Any worm you can jam a neko weight, a nail, or even a little ball jig with the curve of the hook nipped off will work.

5"-7" flukes

I am glad to see these suggestions. I meant to try the neko rig this past summer but completely forgot. I am determined to try it come spring. 

 

Very interesting suggestion on the fluke. I will definitely give that a try. I don't think a zman or other elaztech would work without using a broken off shakey head or tube hook because I can't see a nail weight going into a n elaztech bait like that. 

KVD bullworms are pretty nice.

Did you end up using the Bubbling shaker last year?  I'm testing the 5" as I type this and it looks amazing. I have it side by side against the 6.5" GY cut tail. Just on how it looks alone not even close the bubbling shaker blows it away. However I'm curious to see what the fish prefer. The cut tail worm does have a bigger profile.

Trick worm or bio spawn plasma tail. 

Original trick worm & strk king kvd elaztech worm with a stainless steel screw in the head & a #1 octopus hook.

Usually works for me.  I use the ovtupus hook for wacky & drop shot also.

Uptons Customs and Iovino 6" straight tail worms, 1/4" cut flat off the nose end, 3/32 oz nail weight, size 2 Owner #5172 weedless wacky hook about 1" back of nose end on 6 to 8 lb FC line.

You want a worm that floats tail end up.
