Davison here. Grew up about 15 minutes from Murphy Lake. Went to school in Millington.

Just got my PB out at Holloway today. 95 degree heat. Water was warm. Was driving and seen a spot that looked like there would be some bass. Pulled over. Walked a quarter a mile through the woods. Waded out about 50 Feet on the shoreline. Tossed a buck tail out and second cast I thought I hooked a Pike the way it was fighting. Got her in and it was a 2.8 pounder. Was astonished since fishing on Holloway has been really bad for a while now. Phone was so dead from work that I wasn't able to take a picture. I was half temped to keep it but had about two hours of running to do and I don't usually keep fish from water where the fishing is so on and off.

E* I just got into bassing by the way, lol. So a 2.8 PB is good in my eyes. I was really surprised at how sharp the teeth were. That means it mostly feeds on fish, right ? Not like crawdads or anything like that. Also he was very colorful that means he mostly stays in cover, correct ?

Thats a nice bass out of holloway was it a largemouth? Usually all the bass i catch out of there are darker than anywhere else

Has anyone been having luck on frogs yet this year? I seems like I am catching far more fish on walkingbaits, whopper ploppers, and poppers than frogs. Last year around this time the frog bite was on full tilt but it doesn't seem to be prime time yet, anyone else experiencing this?

Yeah, it was a largemouth. Seems like all the fish there are different from other fish, lol.

The fact that a lot of bodies of water don't have substantial crawdad populations debunks that theory. However, in the end, I wouldn't worry about it.

I was out a week ago and I got a half dozen strikes on my frog. It was a heavily padded body of water though so I expected a bit better day in the hot sun there than elsewhere. I'm not a huge top water guy though (I know I know) so I don't have a solid input on the matter.

I love frog fishing and this time last year i couldnt keep them off but this year i cant even seem to get a strike

Fishing has been slow for most folks on Long, Austin and West lakes in the KZO area. Long and West got sprayed for weeds recently, not sure about Austin.

Went out today for a couple hours before the grill out started. Went to Nestor Lake (Clare Co). It's a smaller body of water and 50% lilly pad. Tried a hb frog on top but wasn't getting any action so I switched to a t-rigged zoom worm in the pockets. It wasn't long before I rigged er' wacky with a senko and worked the lilly pad edge. That seemed to be the trick today. Caught a half-dozen so the day wasn't terrible. Nothing with size but again, it was a good 4th of July!!

Went out all weekend at fletchers caught a bunch of bass couple decent ones, and a bunch of pike. Lost way to many lures due to pike biting them off but all in all it was a great weekend up north. PURE MICHIGAN

New to the forum and excited to be here. A bass fisherman from southwest Michigan. Fishing's been decent but looking for any advice for anyone who's fished White Lake. Can't seem to produce on that lake. So much vegetation.

Southfield here,

Brand new to this site I'm glad i found it. My favorite body of water to fish is the Huron river (@Huroc Park Flat Rock MI) while on the Bank. While in the boat Detroit River from the foot of Southfield all the way to Joe Louis Arena, until i read through the forum and learn new body of waters

Hello Fellow Michiganders!

Been member here for a while. Thought I'd pop in and introduce myself. I'm mainly a bank fisherman. I've been fishing for bass most of my adult life. I fish mainly, Lake Erie and the Huron River, sometimes the River Raisin. I live in Monroe county.

Im hoping to get out to lake St. Clare this year for some smallies.

I'm sorry, you lost me at "Go Blue"....

Awwww now, don't hate! ;)

I am located in Calhoun county. Go blue is the logical choice in this state.

I'm in far southwest Michigan.  Do most of my fishing close to home, too many small lakes to name within minutes of me, most are decent, but travel north from time to time.

Looking to fish teh Huron River and River Raisin. Are these rivers kayak friendly? Are there any bass?

Unfortunately, I have been having great luck with frogs this year...just not the intended species.

With that said, how's the fishing on the North end of lake Michigan (St. Ignace)?  I'll be in a house on the beach for a week beginning in august and I don't know anybody up there to go fishing with.
