Favorite "finesse swimbaits"

Featured Replies

A killer finesse swimbait for me is the Berkley "Ripple Shad" on a jighead. Fish tear this thing up, what is your favorite?

Ditto for me too.  Also I like the older single treble Castaic threadfin shad baits that were hard with the soft plastic tails.

3.5 inch Keitech Swing Impact rigged with the hook through the nose of the bait. It allows more of the bait to move and gives it better action coming through the water. Add a bullet weight ahead of the hook and you can drop it into holes in grass.

either just threaded onto a swim jig, or on a swimbait hook i have also used it on a rage blade

I've used 3" and 4" Berkley Ripple Shads for several years now and like them.  Last year I tried Keitech Swing Impact and FAT and now use those more than Ripple Shads.  I've also tried BPS Speed Shads and will buy them again.

I have a bunch of Mister Twister sassy shads in the 2" size. I put them on a 1/8 ounce jig head, and I am set.

P-Line Kick-R minnow

RI Little Dipper

Zoom Swimming fluke

Keitech (Any)

I like to fish these as a swim jig trailer or on a Owner light twist lock head http://www.ownerhooks.com/basshooks.htm#5167W 4/0 for smaller baits and 5/0 for larger.

Ditto! I prefer the Skinny Dipper but when downsizing Is the only option the Little dipper has caught aplenty of bass!

Anyone have any images of rigging the Swing Impacts as well as how to use them? I have some 4" in Bluegill Flash and want to catch some. Is now a good time for them?

Isn't the hook on those too big? I have some VMC Drop Deads and I was curious. That's how I will likely rig Flukes this summer.

I use to like the Gene Larew Sweet Swimmer and the Keitech Easy Shiner until I tried the River Rock Baits RR Striker, it is right in between both of those baits, the sweet swimmer is 3.5" and the Keitech one I liked was 4" but the River Rock RR Striker is 3.75" and I find that to be perfect for my fishing. Dark Baby Bass and Alewife are my 2 favorite colors.

Back of a chatterbait, or rage blade. Aaron Martens proved it can be the difference.

I've had days where they didn't want a caffeine swimming shad on a rage blade but killed the blade minnow

I put mine on a 1/4oz bullet head with a 2/0 hook, it's one I pour. It works perfectly with those baits.

Keitechs are where it's at for a paddletail. I was thinking more like a 6" Savage Gear line thru for a finesse swimbait though.

i've had a lot of success using a Berkley Beat Shad or Keitech rigged on a 2/o jika rig i made with little bell weights. you can swim it, drag it, bounce it, pitch it...etc. it's my confidence bait and what i always start with. also got me my PB so there's that. i throw it on a 6'6 M action rod with 10 lb fluoro.
