Hey guys what ever happened to those gnarly pork chunks with the green and white spots that you veteran bass fisherman used to fish with?. Pig and Jig I believed it was called.  I was not a bass fisherman at during the 80s but man do I remember that god awful smell. I believe they were used as a trailer?   

With that being said. Anyone still use their old school baits?

I use them and have a couple of unopened bottles but have never used the green a white spot one .

i wasnt even sure of they even made them anymore.

Uncle Josh pork rind, now that's a blast from the past. That stuff made for great trailers but it was so hard to get off the hook I stopped using it. If you left it on the hook and didn't put it back in the jar when you were done it would dry out and turn in to leather but getting it off a jig hook was near impossible. I carried a bunch of jars of it for a long time until one of them leaked all over my tackle bag and I threw it all in the garbage and switched over to the all new Gene Larew Salt Craw.

PS: I also had the white with green spots, that was the worst "frog" pattern ever.

I still use them. Some of our lakes, the big largemouth prefer pork (pork catches pigs). Unfortunately, they don't make it anymore as of a few months ago, so now I have to jealously guard my stash that I have and get my lure retriever out to get a jig back because of the trailer on it. I wish I had a lot more jars of them than I have. 

Ive used jig n pig for the last 35yrs. And still do today,and always will. If it starts to dry out,just occasionally dip it in the water.  I dont use the spotted color, but i have about 30 bottle of the BABY CRAWDAD #32. And 24 bottles of the 101 SPIN FROG. Keepem in a lure wrap also helps the drying out. Dip the whole thing in the water. There was a removal tip that use to be on theiir web site. After you do it a couple times it will come right off :)

Nothing, and I repeat, nothing, moves in the water like properly prepared pork rind. I have a jealously guarded stash too.

I still fish them in the spring more than anytime of the year.After the spawn I go back to plastic.Just me!

Smelly........pork isn't smelly.

You all don't need to worry about that old pork frog it's dead, know one makes them anymore.

Well you posted this a month to late.  Uncle Josh parent company announced last month the production of pork rind products has been concluded.  Lack of consumer interest and the inability to get quality pork.  Just like the food we eat, the pork skins were from animals rushed too quickly into market. This caused the quality to suffer so bad Uncle Josh could not continue to make the product to the most minimum standard.

I use them year round. I always have a rod dedicated to a jig-n-pig.

Yeah, sad that they are gone. Although someone will pick it up again. I have a reasonable stash however and each one lasts a long time.

I used Uncle Josh pork rind frogs as jig trailers many years ago, I even "doctor" them to perfection, however, one day I decided that I was not going to baby sit those suckers instead of fishing, in my neck of the woods with it´s hot dry climate pork rind turned into a gummy sticky horrendous almost impossible to remove mass purty darn fast.

Why do I keep hearing Uncle Josh quit making pork chunks but I can still order them from  their web site?

That pork rind above? That is my earliest memories of fishing. My Dads tackle box always had these in them. He never used them , they were just one of the random things in the bottom of that " metal tackle box'  of his.    too cool...

You can buy some at Cabelas still. I saw they make pork trailers and finesse worms. I almost bought stome yesterday but I couldn't pull the trigger on the price
