I'm still not sold on the front office doing the right thing this off season though.

No. I think Red Sox & Bruins management & ownership don’t care about championships as long as the seats are full and merchandise flies off the shelf ($$$$$$$)

  • I was only one when the Dodgers moved to LA.  I understand my uncle got in a heap of trouble from my aunt over this picture of him and a movie star that appeared in in Life Magazine.   https

Mariners are looking pretty good right now, coming just one win away from the World Series. Can Seattle bring home a pennant the same year as the Super Bowl victory? That would be incredible. I don't know if a city has ever done that within the same year before. Crazy to think that might happen!

@Glenn I think Kirby is going to have a breakout year. It’s too bad you lost Suárez, but the AL West is still Seattle’s to lose.

Meanwhile, 2 of Atlanta’s projected starting pitchers have already gone down with elbow surgery and neither expected back until July. Waldrep and Schwellenbach. Smith-Shawver will miss the entire season as he recovers from his TJ surgery. Their best reliever’s status is up in the air, as Jimenez recovers from his knee surgery. I could go on and on with the Braves injuries already. It’s like they used all their injury karma up during that magical 2023 season.

I think Boston did that in 2004 and Los Angeles missed it by a year with the rams/dodgers

@Jigfishn10 the games have been pretty good for the most part. Definitely some lopsided ones, but I’ve really enjoyed watching. I watched Netherlands beat Nicaragua, Ozzie Albies hit a walk off 3 run home run with two outs in the bottom of the 9th down 2. Doesn’t get any crazier than that!

@Jar11591, I’m hooked back into baseball now that we’re finally getting some nice weather here. I was still in baseball denial, especially after that blizzard came rolling in! Haha

Hoping to catch more WBC games. How does the US look? I’m sure PR and Japan have strong teams as well.

@Jigfishn10 I haven’t been able to catch any US games yet but they have a stacked roster. Skubal gave up a dinger on the first pitch to GB but the US took that one 9-1. I have a feeling it will be US vs Japan again.

@Jigfishn10 when you look at all the teams still left they all make sense. DR, Japan, Puerto Rico…and then you see team Italy! Pretty cool.

After DR’s showing against South Korea, I can see why they are favored. Soto, Tatis, Vladdy, and Machado in the middle of that line up is insane.

DR is stacked! It will be up to their pitching. I think Italy beat the US in the pool round and then beat Mexico to get to this round. I really need to look them up and see what they have there, but interesting to say the least

It must be that espresso machine they keep in the dugout lol

Their next matchup is gonna be tough, whether it’s Japan or Venezuela.

@Glenn The Baltimore Orioles and Colts were both World Champs in 1970. I had it great as a kid being a Baltimore fan.

Congrats to Venezuela on their first WBC championship. I found myself pulling for them over team USA. The American stars come off as a bit jaded, and team Venezuela came off as anything but that. I’m happy for them.

The WBC is really something special. A great celebration of the game and it’s so fun to see how other cultures bring baseball. It’s treated very similar in Latin America and Japan to football in this country. I’m already stoked for the next one and I hope they decided to do it every 3 years instead.
