If you could only choose one..

Featured Replies

Im curious, if you could only choose one lure, (Let's say you were stranded) what would you choose ? Like if you had no boat. Just a rod and one lure. From the bank, In an unknown area.

  • Rooster Tails catch just about anything. Have caught everything except carp on them. Second choice would be sluggos, simply because of versatility. I use the same 4 inch sluggos for crappie, bass

  • Mine would be a 6 inch worm. You can texas rig it, swim it or run it on top of the water.

3" Curly tail grub on a jig head or split shot rig, but a 3" sassy shad would be fine as well. I would go grub only because it comes through weeds better, can be buzzed etc...single tail xps grub

Senko. Best thing other than the real thing.

Speaking of which... You've been asking a lot of questions but haven't been giving much input. It'd be nice to see your ideas too. Not being a jerk just saying.

Agreed. Love the mepps. That would be my choice.  Even caught a hefty channel cat on one .

Hard to only choose one type of lure, since there are so many lures that are highly effective.Guess I would have to choose a couple bucktail jigs of various sizes for freshwater /saltwater fishing.

I would go with a swimjig and swimsenko, because it's one of my confidence baits, and it is so versatile.

Any of the Z Man Ned Rig baits.

Dang that is old school. I started fishing with lures using a JSM. Mostly caught pike and pickerel.

x2 actually. Can be fished through some thick stuff, they flutter nicely, and you can add trailers of you so choose to give it a little something different.

Since you didn't mention species or salt or fresh water I'm going to go with a spinning rod with a small white marabou jig.  Have caught a bit of everything from fresh and salt water on this little bait.

Senko

If I had to catch fish to eat & survive or just wanted to show off my catching abilities to the others stranded with me, I would choose a Zman TRD 1/15oz Ned rig in California Craw.

If I didn't have to catch fish and just wanted to have fun throwing & retrieving a lure, then a Zara Spook.

If I was stranded I would go with a Bic lighter with a hook .

Zoom utail In black or red/shad. The modifications that can me made on this bait make It quite versatile.

Jig

6" senko or whopper plopper 90 orb 130 no matter the time of day or location i get fish on the plopper both size and numbers  defiinelty becoming my favorite bait

Rapala f11 floating in silver. I've caught largemouth, smallmouth, spotted bass, striped bass, white bass, yellow bass, hybrids, brown trout, rainbow trout, walleye, gar, crappie, bluegill, channel cats, and blue cats on this bait. Not far behind would be a 1/8 oz white roostertail.

If I can only have one bait, Zman ribbon tail wormz, they are very durable.

Or if I can have as many as I need but only of one kind of bait, Manns Jelly worm.

3/0 worm hook

3/8 oz bullet weight

No boat means its coming through stuff more than likely every cast as it comes in to the bank. I need a bait that can be thrown into anywhere since its a unknown area. A bait for any season or temperature. A bait for pretty much any water. T Rigged worm fits that bill.
