To all the people using mono line what is your go to company? Looking for a good brand as I have not been thrilled about the few brands ive tried. Is the Berkley big game any good? Seeing the cheap prices makes me iffy about purchasing it because of how cheap it is. Looking to stay at 12 lb. I have braid and fluorocarbon setups and just looking for a good mono. Thanks for your time

12 lb. Berkley Big Game is good.

12 lb. Maxima Ultragreen is better.

My numero uno is Berkley XT...for everything.  Caught a 3 1/2 lb gator today on 4lb XT on my ultra light rig.  Had the line across his mouth and all.  Lucky catch maybe but that line has proven tough to me many times over the 30 yrs I've been using it.  It is a bad cold weather choice but most mono's are..

My alternate is Sufix Siege. 

 

When I used a baitcaster, it was always Trilene XT.  For spinning at 4 or 6 lb., it's AN40. 8 lb and above is Trilene XL . What's been the problem with the lines you've used and didn't like?    jj

been using big game for as long as I can remember. also use Ande,found it really last's a long time,cost a little more than big game but some of my combos are used for salt water and Ande seems to work a little better for that.

p.s. maxima ultra green is also a great line,super tough.

for 12# just doesn't hold up to my expectation. Getting random breaks throughout the line even when freshly spooled. It has happened with a few different brands. And for the life of me I cant remember the brand I had a huge spool of that lasted me a few years without a problem. But since I ran out of it two summers ago ive been experimenting with different brands trying to find something good

I use a  lot of  Sunline Supernatural, very affordable and super usable.   If you want what I consider the best then that would be Sunline Defier Armilo, not cheap but a line that you can feel the difference in quality when you take it off the spool.

+1 on Berkeley big game and Ande monofilament line.

I have fished with Berkley Trilene Big Game for decades, XT is also very good, XL doesn't work for me, CXX when I fish heavy timber and/ or emegent vegetation like tules, Yo-Zuri hybrid for L-UL.

Hi Seas Grand Slam Select. Limp, great abrasion resistance, high knot strength & very inexpensive.

 

I have been using Seaguar Senshi 15# and have been very impressed. Thin diameter and casts great.

I have been putting Berkley Big Game 15# in green on my baitcasters for the past 6 or 7 years.  This year the spinning reels have 10# Big Game on them.

I can't compare with defier because I never owned it (only touched it, and that is awesome stuff), but this will give you a run for the money. Pull line out from your reel and the line lays on the ground like it's braid.

Long time XL user switching this year to Big Game. I find lately XL to be almost too soft and I can't seem to get good knot strength after its been on the reel for a week or more - which isn't good. I have to tie several knots before I can give a good tug to one that doesn't break using 6, 8 or 10 pound.

In using the Big Game, yes it has more memory and it might cast 5% less distance but man is it STRONG. solved my strength issues immediately. to me, the trade off for toughness and strength is worth it.

Im using 8 pound big game on spinning and 12 pound test on my baitcaster. so far I really like it.

big game has been around for eons and im only now learning its benefits and why it has such a huge following for us old school mono users lol

You've probably never heard of it .Izorline. Very affordable and the best mono I've ever used.

I like using P Line CX green 15#.

i prefer it over mono.
