I have a couple of Phenix vibrator jigs and a few original D&M Clown and Purple passion colored chatterbaits I don't see myself ever using or getting rid of. I have other options I can use/lose.

Thanks DoDFire,..  And yes wdp, that guy did have the wrong attitude. If he didnt take that tact?, I had more of those green jigs with me and I would have shared them, and their matching trailers with him. I have no problem sharing my tackle, even if we are competeing against each other. I look at it like this,...If you can beat me fishing the same lure, in the same manner, god bless you, you deserve it. Not touting my abilities, just that the playing field is at a fair level, or as close as can be as luck does play in the end results just a bit in this instance.

Unfortunately for both he and I, the whole 2 day tournament was won by another angler I knew named Lou, and where was he fishing for both days? The same point. Lou was fishing the downstream side picking off bass that were holding just off the points nose.,... but we were on the upstream side at that moment, and that point has a whole bunch of rock all the way down it, with about thirty feet of clearance between the rip rap and a giant patch of waterchestnut to trolling motor down between, for about 200 yards . With the tide going out at that time Im positive there were more fish there.,... And Charlie? blew his chances at a possible state team berth.

 Im sorry to say I ended tourney fishing shortly after, but did buy a deep-v tracker shortly after, and have been back to that fateful spot when the tide line is similar, to find bass on that point being just as agreeable with the like jigs I duplicated.

 I do have another lure I hold on to, a original white Manns classic spinnerbait I caught my pb on. But thats another story altogether

Hamma  I won a lowly club tourney in the back of the boat .For two days the guy running the trolling motor was convinced that spinnerbaits were the lure for the conditions and thats all he threw . I just followed up with a t-rig  lizard and quickly worked every piece of cover we zoomed by . He was livid .  I think it was the  last tourney he ever fished . Some folks just are not cut out for tourney fishing , even at the club level . LOL . We were just a bunch of good ol boys having fun  and he couldnt cut it .

Anyone who has fished a long time has lost pet lures they would love to have back.

Most of my retired lures were retired because I stopped using them and moved on to newer lures that worked better. I have a few hundred lures that have been retired, a few early 1900's antiques and lots of wooden vintage lures from the 40's and 50's that I bought  a long time ago. I actually still fish with a friend on occasion with our 50's era rods, reels and lures.

Tom, I can totally agree that there is a very unique feeling whenever we have the distinct pleasure of using gear or throwing bait's that are close to or older than we are - perhaps it's some type of longevity based satisfaction.  Either way it doesn't happen much or nearly enough in my book.

I go to great lengths to retrieve all my baits, but I'd do about anything to get this one back.

My grandfather hand carved a spoon out of abalone shell that a friend of his gave him. He used it many times before he passed away about 10 years. My grandmother recently passed it along to me. Not only do I refuse to lose that lure, I refuse to let it leave the house. Not only a beautiful hand made lure, but a memory of the times he took me fishing when I was little.

There are lots of lures I would like to have back, the one that jumps up is the wooden Huddleston early 90's prototype trout swimbait lost to a big strip bass at lake Pryamide by the dam.

Shouldn't have been using the lure at Pryamide because of stripers and the fish got into a cable by the dam and broke off. One of a kind lures are impossible to replace.

I haven't read any replies In this thread but here's my take on a bait I wouldn't want to lose. I simply don't use it. I have several I refuse to throw anymore for a multitude of reasons, mostly sentimental. 

I've got a roman made negotiator that I'm absolutely going in after it if it gets hung up!

Yup. First Lucky Craft I ever bought was hung on an underwater branch on the first cast. I could see it in the gin clear water. Going in the drink for it crossed my mind...
