It seems certain baits work best in tandem, whether a true follow up bait or a combo search bait with slower presentation to pull a few more out of a spot. I was wondering what your favorite combos are.

Mine over the last couple of years 

1. In Spring- buzz bait with senko or trick worm follow up. i'd call this a classic follow up 

2. Summer - citrus shad deap diving crank with t-rigged worm. More of a tandem if school slows down on the crank bait, a fast falling ol monster get's bit everytime.

3. fall - spinner bait, jig or gitzit

4. I dont really have one for winter.

I use a Senko, either wacky or T rigged. The other bait that has been an excellentfollow up bait is a Ned rig. I had one day in a tournament it was guaranteed, if a fish missed it would eat the Ned.

I use a weightless Trick Worm for the sole reason that I almost always have one tied on a spinning combo and sitting in my lap (on the kayak). It falls level and perfectly vertically so it looks like something a bass just stunned and is slowly dropping to the bottom.

Weightless super fluke for me. Many days if I miss one on topwater or shallow cranking, I can throw a fluke in there and twitch it a few times & get bit. 

A guy I grew up fishing with has caught just about every fish I have ever missed on a PB&J grub on a ball head. It never mattered what I was throwing or how long I had the fish on. Right where it got off he would drop that grub on its head. I never think to do it, but man is he effective with that.

Weightless T-rigged Senko, ever since I tried that worm it just made sense to use it as a follow up. The best part is that it works, and works well!!!!

I choose a follow up, by what lake im fishing, and what cover Im targeting as well. The prevailing forage usually dictates it, and season decides size.

My follow up is either a senko or a trick worm, t-rigged & unweighted.  Either works just fine for me, and luckily one of the two (usually both) are always tied on.

   I just fire the bait they missed back out most of the time . Other times its a Texas rig or jig Because I pretty much have one handy 100 per cent of the time .

I agree with Blue, the Ned rig is an awesome follow up bait. It is rare that they won't hit it.

I throw either a tube, Senko, or Fluke as my follow up baits for missed topwater strikes. All of which are nice because they have a slow, wounded sinking motion, rather than a quick drop, and they all can be rigged completely weedless.

Most of the time  a Frog/Buzzbait with a texas rigged plastic. Other times a squarebill with a texas rigged plastic

Put me in the the senko club - wacky or weedless, depending on the cover.

I need to get better at tossing a follow up bait out quick. I tend to just throw whatever they just missed or got off of. A wacky Senko will be my choice probably.
