Got off the Island on the 21st of June on my 21 birthday. Was quit an adventure that I would do again. Thank you all for your service. I'm a former "Adakian" as well. Served there from '89-'91. Great tour. On a side note, that was my second tour - the first was Western Australia for three years. Tough gig there! CybrSlydr
I regret waiting to begin fishing until the middle of last year because I was at Ft. Polk in Louisiana - now I know the kinds of places I missed. I was less than an hour from South Toledo Bend! That said, that is the ONLY thing I regret about Louisiana - hated that place.

The creek ran under the tundra. You had to pull back the grass and drop your lure in the water. The saltwater fishing was great. I never hooked into any big halibut (my PB there was only 60 lbs.), but I witnessed a lot of fish between 100 - 200 lbs. True doormats. I even caught halibut fishing off the piers. Of course you also had the pink, red and silver salmon. A lot of good memories from that tour!

You had it before the days of the internet and the like - you have my sympathies.
