Which rod would make a better jig and Texas rig rod? Jig weights are 3/8,1/2 and Texas rig weights as low as 1/4 

I'd go with a 4 power Dobyns. A 3 power is definitely too light for 1/2 oz.

I have a 733 & 734, comfortable with the former at 3/8oz but probably not a half oz.  Mainly throwing swim jigs but a few T rigs also.  I have found the 733 to be pretty versatile with some other techniques.  

 

Just purchased a St Croix Premier 7' MH, going to be interesting to see what I like better for half oz. jigs, the 734 or this one.  Should be fun to compare side by side.

Dobyns new Champion 744c jig special and don't look back. This a great rod. It's got it's on signature feel, loads great and the balance is spot on.  It's always on the deck. 

I have the dx 743 and for jigs its way to light.  It makes a great weightless worm rod but for heavy hook operations the 4 power is a way better idea.
