Forgot my tackle bag.

Featured Replies

Got to the lake this a.m, about a 40 minute drive from my house, and realized after I launched I had taken the tackle bag out last weekend to clean the boat out.   And I always have some bags of this or that laying around, but not this time!   Cleaned the boat real good last weekend.   That will teach me.

I had what was attached to the rods on board which were:

1. A 3/8 double bladed white spinner bait.

2. A 3/0 worm hook with 1/4 oz weight.  No worm.

3. A 1/2 oz Cordell lipless.  Silver

4. A 3/8 oz football jig and trailer.

5. A 1/4 shaky head with a Zoom finesse worm pretty chewed up.

6. A 1/2 frog.

7. A 1/32 oz panfish jig.

I caught a couple on a spinner bait, but the real pattern I think was the Shakyhead.  I caught 4 in a fairly short time, all 2-3+ pounds.   This guy here either ate half of a worm or left it in the lake, but that was all for that worm.

Pretty good day actually, moral of the story is I don't think I always need all of that stuff I bring.

Or the moral of the story is your getting older like some of us and there are more days now with some unique surprise's .   Well done in the catching dept.

I have gotten to the point where I have made a checklist. Before each trip I run through it to make sure I haven't forgotten anything.

Nice looking bass!

Could be worse, I got to the lake and realized I'd forgotten to put the trolling motor battery in the truck (I was in a 2 man). :annoyed1:

I once drove 1/2 hour to a local lake, opened the hatch as usual, and no rods! Shook my head and laughed out loud.

Nice bass!

Looks like you had the right bait already on the line :) Nice catch!

Kudos to you for making the best with what you had, plus it all worked out.

I have 3 sets of gear.  I know I have to load 1 set before every trip.  1 set for the lake, 1 set for the river, and 1 set if I am going in someone else's boat.

I feel ya man ! I forgot my oars a couple of weeks back ,not sure if I blame it on the meds I take, or just old age!i used tackle boxes for oars. glad to see you over came. its amazing what us guys will do just to get to fish.

Looks like a decent day anyway.

With your superior fishing skills maybe you should just pack up that bag you left at home in a box and mail it to me!

Let me know what it cost to mail it to NC.

I'll be a nice guy and reimburse you!?

3x as many opportunities for me to forget!

True story - not fishing related but you can get an idea of the type of guy I am.   Was running this 5k race called the Fat Ass 5k a couple of weeks ago which gives you an idea of how serious of a runner I am.   It's a huge deal - several thousands of people there.   Right before the start, the announcer says they have a lost car key.   Before they even identified the car key my wife told me to go get it, and my friends who were there with me just laughed.   Thousands of people there, and everyone that knows me knew instantly that was my car key.   And it was!
