no fishing for me for a while

Recommended Posts

I was early to work Monday, A man came in with a mower that was having problems, would not steer. I was helping him get it off the trailer and got my feet tangled up and fell. Pulled a mussel loose on my right shoulder, 6 weeks  at best until I can use it, if they don't have to operate.  I am 61 and don't heal up as fast as I use to

Sorry to hear it, David!  I'm 45, broke my foot early this summer, tackling my 18 year old son.  It's just a stress fracture, but really slowed me down, too.  It's clear to me that while I feel young, my body isn't quite up to things like that anymore.

Rest up, get well and fishing soon!

Was it at least a legal tackle or more of a targeting type of thing:lol:

Totally legal, helmet up.  Knocked right off his feet.  At first, hilarious.  Then horrifying, and painful!

The things a man will do to his son whenever he loses a pre-Rap wart...

Good luck, David!

48 myself (as of this Sat), and like @J Francho, I think I'm

younger than my age, and body actually say I am. The other

week I took a spill while mountain biking and bruised my ribs.

Kept going after I caught my breath and pushed thru the pain.

But ended up having to go in for x-rays as I thought I broke 'em.

Have been mountain biking since, but not fishing as that puts

my body in more pain than biking, believe it or not.

Anyhow, point being, I'm slowly waking up to the fact I'm not

in my 20s anymore and need to stop pretending I am. I simply

don't heal as fast, and for sure can't do the insane stuff I did

mountain biking that I did then. Painful wake up call, that was.

My year started off with a partially torn MCL, to many weeks away from fishing. Painful after buying a boat, finally, at the end of last year. Right when fishing was heating up I was out of action. Had to go by the boat in the garage every day knowing I could not be in it was no fun at all.

Be patient and listen to the docs, coming back to soon is to much of a risk of making things work. Heal up and come back strong, good luck.

That stinks.  Hopefully it will heal up correctly on it's own.

Since the accident occurred while on the job you should have work comp to pick up all of the medical expenses.

Please find out the name of the best orthopedic in your area and get the work comp carrier's permission to see him so his bills will be covered.

Shoulder injuries don't heal fast and they can be difficult to repair.

Get the best ortho around.

Good luck and sorry about the accident.

@david in va Did you get a diagnosis? Have an MRI? I've gone thru 3 shoulder surgeries. 2 arthroscopic and one major. Recovery is nothing short than miserable and a good physical therapy program is a must. Hoping for the best.

And since this happened at work, do yourself a favor and contact a WC lawyer before you talk to the company's insurance provider

Correction.  SOME are getting old.  Some of us are getting older.

Never complain about getting old.  It beats the alternative.
