I've been so busy at work I thought today was Wednesday. Big goose egg for me this week! ?

I went with some of the favorites this event. I need to pick up some points to stay competitive, so I needed some sure picks. I hate going with the heavy favorite/locals pick, but it is what it is. 

 

My picks and their estimated ranking as of 12:30 on day one.

except Jason Christie. Was talking to Ronnie Moore about him yesterday. He’s had a lot of heartbreakers over the last year. Feel bad for him.

i hd a poor weekend too but i had j lee and he went to the end. in our group i am 6th.

I'm really curious how the KY lake tournament is going to go. It's such a popular ledge lake with a strong offshore bite. However with the spawn in effect, it could be a totally different ball game.

I posted on the tournament thread that there is a 250 boat tourney going on along with the Elites 2 out of the four days. Might be interesting. I'll bet there's going to be a lot of upset anglers on both sides, a lot of accusations of stealing spots, and maybe even some name calling LOL. Could be interesting.

I have always thought highly of Christie's skill & determination, but the past 2 plus years have given him a few major punches to the gut.  2016, leads the Classic into the final day by 5 lbs only to have Evers go off with a 29 lb bag.  2017 loses AOY by a small margin with his worst finish being on a lake he had won on before (Dardanelle).  2018 Classic replicates 2016, except he falls down instead of someone else excelling.

 

I was concerned about where his head would be at before Grand, so I didn't choose him.  I still think those near misses are gnawing on him daily, I believe he will have to do something spectacular to shake it off.  Once he does, look out, there will be no way of holding him back.

 

I think Christie is in a similar position Edwin Evers was a few years back.  Successful but missing either an AOY or Classic and then experiencing a series of near misses of those in a short window.  When it happened to Evers, he stumbled for a few months, until finally he came back with the big bag at Havasu & a 3rd place finish, out-sprinted KVD at Kentucky lake for a win and then went back-to-back by winning on the St. Lawrence river.  I believe that tremendous run removed any demons that had moved to his frontal cortex and paved the way for his Classic victory the following March.

so true. i was starting to get into the B.A.S.S thing and watching. i thought evers was getting shafted but those fish. but it always has ups and downs.

I've heard/read several things saying the Asian Carp infestation is getting pretty bad too.  Guys posting pictures of their graphs saying you can't tell what is what on them.

i was reading on the main page anad they were saying that the signal to reach boats is spotty and in some spots not at all

Day one....meh, could be worse:

I tried to go with pure value per bucket while so many top guys are still spread out, ignoring ownership (which it turns out is almost exactly the same as directly picking highest ownership).

 

I at least I had nobody catastrophically tank yet, for once. Lets see if that holds up...

williamson tanked it on me but i was kinda ify on him. everyone else did good and okay.

Im so sick...was a hair away from picking Shaw....i knew it was spawn time and Shaw is undisputed best sight fisherman.  Pick Horton instead and he just hasnt got into any big onrs

It looks like a lot of guys who caught them yesterday aren't catching them today. The leaderboard is changing.
