Hey everyone, I am going to go fishing this Saturday at a highland type reservoir. We are currently having a warming trend that has been going on for about four days, and should continue for five more days, so in total a 9 day warming trend. I was wondering where you would look for fish, ex. Points, Coves, Shallow water, near rocks, and water depth. Also I was wondering what lures would you use?

I try to fish shallow in a situation like that but I stay at 20-30 ft almost year round. It's my comfort zone apparently 

I agree with @Catt, what state? Hard to answer questions on warm spell techniques without at least knowing the state.

Fish on LMB, as TnRiver46 mentioned, I’d have to agreed this time of year 20-30 foot range along bluff walls and points might be the place to start. And the dam was always very good in the late afternoon. I know a jig, especially spider jigs work well there for bigger bites. I haven’t been there in a while, but the fishing can be very good. You are near Livermore east Bay Area and as I recall De Valle has regular trout plants.

Your lake is in pre spawn and the bass may be in 20'-30' depths staged on major points depending on water temps.

I would focus on the multiple points near the dam using 1/2-3/4 oz football jigs with GYBC Hula grubs and ROF 12,  68 dark trout swimbait. If you want numbers slip shot or drop shot Roboworms.

Good luck.  I used to go trout fishing there with my Dad.

I fished Del Valle About a month ago.   Took a cousin out that wanted to target trout.   The water level is super low.   Start in the narrows.   I have always had luck with jigs and tubes and keitechs.   Focus north of the first major cove and the narrow section between that and heron bay.  I have a friend that has good success there in winter deep cranking and jigging spoons.   If your banking fishing you’ll have to walk pretty far to get to good water.   The bank beaters take up most of the shore during the weekend.   I haven’t been back since so I don’t know the current water levels or how the fishing is.   But unless they pumped a ton of water in from the delta it’s going to be pretty low. Watch for striper boils.   A 20 pound striper was caught not to long ago. He was casting swimbait a into boils.  Good luck and let us know how you did.   

My brother fishes Del valle almost every weekend. He has been doing pretty good slow rolling spinner baits and red eye’s targeting smallmouth and picking up some nice largemouth. This past weekend he said he caught a lot of trout while bass fishing.
