PAIN !

I think I have just experienced the worst PAIN I have ever experienced. ( physical pain ) Well, It's at least in the top 4.The headache I had when I got meningitis in 2004 was right up there too.

I got a splinter in my foot at the dock, and Monday it began to swell and hurt. By Wednesday it was 3/4 of an inch wide and wound up tight. I could not pop it. It is on the left side of my left foot under the pinky toe. The slightest touch of any kind brought on serious pain. I tried all kinds of home remedies with no result so I finally went to the doc. On Thursday. They rolled me over and the nurse held my leg down. ( Good thing she was a healthy woman ) The doc gave me a shot IN THE ABSESS to deaden the area so he could lance it to get the pus out. I can't imagine anything hurting worse than that. I have never cried since I was a kid from anything physical but Tears actually came to my eyes but didn't run down.when he began squeezing the pus out it was nearly as bad.

When that was over, the nurse gave me a tetanus shot in the arm and a big shot of anti-biotics in the butt. That was a piece of cake.

What's your worse pain ??

I'm changing mine. Now its seeing that tattoo on slones back.

Ouch! Bet it was a huge relief to be done with that. The absolute worse pain I've ever been in was on vacation 9 years ago, I was 16. We were swimming in the hotel pool and I jumped in, whole body under water and when I came back up my ear drum ruptured. Was the only time in my life I've rolled around on the ground screaming at the top of my lungs in pain. Went to the hospital, fell asleep in the room on my side and when I woke up my pillow was covered in blood and other nasty fluids, and I felt better, they gave me pain meds and that was it. 9 years later and I still haven't been swimming since then, out of fear of that happening again.

Easy. Right after I had part of my colon removed (diverticulitis is a terrible thing), I woke up in the hallway just outside of the operating room, the nurses said they would take me down to my room but they had to get me out of the gurney and put me on a different gurney. Instead of having 4 nurses gently move me from one bed to another, there was only 2 nurses trying to drag my pain-filled body onto this gurney. Even pumped full of some of the best pain medication my healthcare money could buy it was still enough to bring me to tears. I had to stop them from pulling on me like a large piece of saltwater taffy and, with all the strength of a 3 year old girl, shimmy my way across the bed. Once the 2 nurses had me safely in my hospital room the process started all over again. They pulled and tugged and I winced till I couldn't take it anymore. Then I shimmied myself onto the bed that would be my home. And as soon as I was tucked in along came 2 more nurses to see how I was doing. My only comment through clinched teeth was "Where were you two a couple of minutes ago when we could've used you?".

Kidney stones were the worst, followed closely by a ruptured disc in my back.

The recovery from having my rhomboid and trapezoid muscles reattached to my shoulder blade. I would not wish it on my worst enemy

physical pain-- For me it's dental. Before doing a root canal I had to have my gums lowered. Two years after that they discovered a wisdom tooth had grown down and was pushing against the root of the next tooth. They had to practically break my jaw to get them out. A close second is popping a couple of discs in my back.

Emotional pain-- My mother has dementia/ Alzheimer's. We drove up to see her today at the facility she is in. And like always it broke me up. Thank god my dad passed away before she was like that.

I'm so sorry man. My mom had it too. She stayed sweet to the end though. This is my 2nd mothers day without her. Would give any thing for one more hug from her.

Give your mom an extra hug when you see her again.

i can't even begin to imagine the misery from that.

I tore a muscle on my bottom rib. For 3 weeks, every time I moved it felt like somebody shoved a knife below my rib.

that is nothing compared to what you must have went through.

Nothing is more painful than a broken heart.

It's a drawn out story, but the injury happened in 2012 and I had this surgery in 2015 after 2 other arthroscopic surgeries in the shoulder joint. I'm still far from "better" but went from about 30% range of motion in the shoulder joint and loss of dexterity in my left hand to about 70% range of motion and only a slight dexterity loss. Still suffer from daily pain but it's no longer constant. The doc drilled a bunch of holes in my shoulder blade and attached the muscles with sutures. I can feel the muscles pull against the sutures when I'm at the end of my "safe" range. If I ever tore them off again, which is a possibility if I don't pay attention to my limits, I think I'd put a bullet in my head rather than go thru the surgery and recovery again.

Acute pancreatitis....levels over 7000.  Have never been curled up in a ball so many days of my life.

About 25 years ago I had an abscess tooth in my upper jaw.  The infection spread into my cheek bone.  Felt like somebody was hitting me in the face with a brick.

I don't even want to think about stones.

Kidney stones for me also! Only time in my life i found myself laying in the groung without being able to even stand...

Perirectal abscess. Google it. Not only was it the most painful thing I've ever experienced, but it was also the most humiliating.

After seeing some of these comments, it makes mine seem pretty small. I have had a cracked tooth that I never went to the dentist for and it eventually just fell apart. It hasn't hurt any more after that.

Another was a lower back pain I had for a week or so that was caused by lifting a Jon boat with water in it, and twisting it sideways to dump it out. Felt like I was getting stabbed in the back whenever I moved much.

The meningitis was an off the charts headache . Felt like a man was inside my head pounding it with a hammer.

I’ve had 18 different surgical procedures and more than 20 cortisone injections. The worst pain was tearing my quad off my knee and the thought of it still gives me chills........and this doesn’t compare to the kidney stone pain my son get.......heck, stones kept him out of the Marine Corps !

I have really bad intestinal problems and it sucks. One time I was on a buddy's boat and had to jump onshore and drop my pants in a thorn bush, it was so bad. I literally have scars on my feet and legs from those thorns. To make matters worse, I fell down a ledge going back and got dirt crammed under my toenail. None of it compares to what you guys are dealing with, though.
