Another one  I like are the 4 inch lucky strike worms in tequila sunrise. These are very light so I fish them with a light rig and bb shot at the hook.They are super cheap at wal mart.

The other is 7 .5 inch culprit worms. Start with red or grape shad.

I Texas rig worms with as little weight as I can get away with. They often see and/ or take it on the fall, and the more weight there is, it sinks too fast imo.

I use 2 or 3/0 wide gap hooks.

There is another less known worm called Producto. I think they are made in Sanford, Florida.

Their tournament worms are EXCELLENT. But you rarely see them in stores anymore.

 

I have some. And I know a guy that hand pours a copy of the floating producto worm with a paddle tail. I have a whole bunch of those.........all in purple.......

I need to order some. Dicks used to carry them. Black grape and black are the 2 colors I use the most. They work great in the St Johns river system. They have a great action.

2 other old school that work well...T-rigged...

 

I am Texas rigging finesse worms and craws. It's one of my favorite ways to fish.

On that I would fish a Ned rig. It just plain catches tons of fish and is really enjoyable. I have caught large mouth, crappie, bluegill, warmouth, and a gar on the same day using a 1/15oz Berkley half head jig with a Z-man TIcklerz. That rod would be perfect for a rod with that power. You could also try a Zoom Ultravibe speed worm Texas rigged with a 1/8-3/16oz bullet weight and a 3/0-4/0 hook. You can swim, flip, pitch and hop that worm so it is super versatile. 

Don't get hung up on fishing a worm the same way all the time.  Sometimes I won't get a bite on a Texas rigged worm at all.  If that happens I will re-rig the worm on a split shot rig, or weightless.
