30lb braid on spinning?

Is there any reason why I should not put 30 Lb braid on a size 3000 BG Spinning Reel?

Nope. I use to hate fishing spinning reels because of line twist. I solved that by going to braid. Then I got wind knots. Finally I jumped up the line diameter (pound test) on my spinning reels and have never looked back!

When I asked a few years ago what size braid I should use on a MHF spinning rod, many suggested 30#.   So that is what I went with on a 2000 size Daiwa.

30lb works for almost anything

I use 30 on two spinning setups. Works well, no issues at all.

Both on 6’6” rods for super tight and close combat.

Hollow body frogs, t/rig plastics, and jigs.

30 lb braid is great when fishing:

in stained water

close quarters

heavy vegetation

heavy cover/structure

30 lb braid is not great when fishing:

clear water

making long casts

fishing tiny lures

I like 30 lb braid on my skipping rod for docks because i know that i wilnt break off and i have a little bit better abrasion hesitance than i would with 15 or 10 lb test.

really just depends what you are using it for...

You surely can, probably don't need to go up that high unless you're just not wanting to have to put as much line on the reel though.

You can,  but is likely overkill. 10 lb is usually more than enough.  This is tru especially if you have casting setups for the salad

30lb is the equivalent of 8lb test, so most spinning reels should be able to manage that perfectly, although personally I usually use 15-20lb braid (I have 12.5 SX1 on one reel, but that is a fatter diameter line than most 15lb braid)

I use 35lb test braid on my spinning reels set up for St Clair and dragging baits or pitching baits.  No leader.

The only rod id drop down in lbs is a medium light, i use 15lb. For my medium rod i use 20 lb, for my medium heavy i use 30lb and for my heavy i use 40 lb

I will add that I prefer the Wide Spool Technology (WST) reels that ere designed for braid.

Use 30 ib braid on my spinning reel for top waters like the Whopper Plopper.

It'll be fine.

If your'e worried about fish seeing line, tie in a 4' - 6' piece of mono, fluoro or co-poly as a leader, tie you bait to that.

Works for me hundreds of times a year in clear water, stained water, moving water...and I run high visibility bright green Suffix 832 30#...

I've got 7 spinning reels at the moment (hey, never know when you NEED more :). 6 out of the 7 have 30lb Suffix 832 braid on them. The 1 reel that doesn't is a finesse setup on a MLF rod for drop shots, Ned rigs, and 4" weightless Senkos. I use to have some of the other spinning reels rigged with 10lb braid. However, I was losing fish when I had to drag them through the hydrilla or other weed line that surrounds pretty much every Florida lake. 30lb braid still casts well, not quite as far as 10lb, but I'll take that for less break offs.

WP110 Set Up : 7' MH spinning Rod , 3000 / 4000 series Daiwa spinning reel , #30 lb. braid : It's a straight cast & reel in deal so spinning is fine plus you can bomb the casts to cover max water on each cast ... Try this set up and you won't use a casting set up for this one specific tactic .

I’m getting back into fishing. I wanted to rig 2 pond/surf casting setups. How will dark green diawa 8 x 30lb j-braid work with a Berkeley 7.6’ medium big game power series pole and a penn pursuit iii 4000/4000C reel work? I’m casting 75 yards in a pond and will hit the surf next to the beach. I will wash the reel and pole throughly after saltwater fishing. Thanks!
