What other hobbies/passions

Featured Replies

Wondering what some of your other hobbies/passions arethat you guys have besides fishing?

I have a VERY modest passion for hats, fedora, outback style to be exact. Ever since dealing with skin cancer 10 years ago I have worn a hat just about everyday.I'm particularly fond of Akubra hats from Australia.

What about you guys?

Hunting, bowfishing, and bait making are my main hobbies outside of fishing.  I also enjoy cooking, mostly simple comfort foods, like bacon cheeseburger meatloaf.

Let's see...many interests/hobbies which vary from year to year.

  • Guitar, though I don't play as much as I used to.
  • Mountain biking
  • Tinkering with stuff (mostly learning car/truck repair on my own).
  • Snake collecting, though this hobby is less collecting now and just
finding them on hikes/walks/kayaking, handling them, taking pix, etc.
  • Tennis - real and table

But @A-Jay's real passion is doggie boots, you THOUGHT he meant dog sledding. :D

After one day all the boots smell like Fritos . . . .

Cycling, tying flies, recently gotten back into disc golf and losing to start climbing again with my son.  My hobbies change around and the focus shifts from time to time and even in fishing, i will get on kicks where all i want to do is fly fish, wade for smallies, tie flies or go after trout.

Bowhunting, Bowfishing, Slow pitch softball, ar-15's, and anything my kids are in to. The last one has taken most of the time I have for the first few hobbies.

Reloading, casting and lots of shooting. ?

Hunting, target shooting, biking, wrenching on broken stuff, getting in shape other than round canoeing and hiking.

Other hobbies, we are supposed to have these?

I dabble in archery, kayaking, hiking, camping, astronomy, and chess. But all of them added together would be a distant second to fishing.

Same for me. My biggest hobbies are fishing, hunting, camping, and I am an avid UFC and boxing fan. I go to a lot of the boxing and UFC events. Outside of those, I'm a pretty boring guy. Any other boxing and/or MMA fans?

I started following the UFC when it first came out on VHS (yea I'm old). The early years of UFC were quite different than it is now. They fought 3 times in one night. It wasn't uncommon for one of the final competitors to be unable to compete do to injuries suffered in a previous match.  I was a huge boxing fan back in the late 70's/early 80's. In the days of "Sugar" Ray Leonard, Tommy "Hitman" Hearns, and "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler. My father took me to see Muhammad Ali's training camp in Deer Lake, PA. I even remember a young Mike Tyson fighting on ESPN.

I like tinkering with things, currently making a new kayak trailer. I'm into home improvement, antiques, reading (fishing stuff). Really big into late model stock car racing, dirt or asphalt. Used to race myself years ago, before our second son was born.

Definitely jealous. I would empty my pockets to have seen Ali, Tyson, Klitschko, Robinson, Marciano, Leonard, etc. I have been to a bunch of UFC PPV events in Las Vegas as well as other cities like Atlanta, Houston, and Charlotte. I prefer UFC to boxing but the biggest boxing fight I have been to was the Luis Ortiz vs Deontay Wilder and the Canelo vs GGG fight.

I do some hunting and camping, but not as much as I used to. I take an occasional hike by myself or with my G- daughter, who I also swim with , kayak and take to the beach etc.

I am a fan of SEC football and baseball (Go Gators ) .

I play a 5 string banjo ( Scruggs style )

Love music, but esp. Bluegrass / old time appalachian music.

And I am a Civil war and Ww2 buff.

And I love reading / studying The Bible.

I can't afford another hobby!!  When you are seriously into fishing you are also a lure collector, rod collector, reel collector and boat motor mechanic. :P  Last weekend when I had the boat out I had some issues so this weekend I went down to my buddies place and we tore into my Yamaha 250 HPDI.  Replaced $300 worth of filters (Yamaha loves to put LOTS of filters in their fuel system).  This is a bi-annual requirement.  I was overdue and we felt the issues were fuel related.  In the process we found that my hotfoot cable had come loose from it's housing and for the grand finale...My connector rod from my throttle to my oil injection system had broken a plastic connector part and more than likely would have caused me to blow my motor.  Saving grace was that is was partially open when broken so the engine was still getting oil.  :o

Rehabbing Vintage Stereo equipment and my 1968 Ford F100.  I also used to be a chef so I still like to cook.

I also am passionate about reading my Bible! Also love Civil War History and WwII history. I live about an hour and a half from Gettysburg and Antietam, make a pilgrimage to both each fall.

For me, the Bible is like oxygen-just couldnt live without it.

I would love to see those battlefields. I have been to manassas, some of the battlefields around Richmond, Chickamauga, lookout mountain, and several smaller battlefields.

Every year I try to go to the Olustee Fl. battlefield reenactment, about an hour from me. It is excellent !

Hunting and basketball are my 2 favorite other hobbies.

I am a huge MMA fan. Remember Royce Gracie winning UFC 1. Now I try and follow everything from LFA to UFC. When I'm not fishing during the summer on weekend nights I can be found in my recliner with a Coors light screaming at the TV. I also really enjoy dirt track racing. And anything related to my Arkansas razorbacks WPS!!!

I have been really watching it since UFC 100. I watch mainly Bellator, Bellator, Glory Kickboxing, etc. You plan on watching the fights this weekend at UFC 227? I hope Cody Garbrandt ko's TJ Dillashaw. Should be a good card. It would have been even better if the Gustaffson fight didn't fall through.
