Favorite bluegill color spinnerbait?

Featured Replies

What are your favorite spinnerbaits for bass feeding on gills?

Can't go wrong with Nichols, Pepper, or Revenge. All 3 come in nice gill patterns and feature quality components. If you go Nichols, I'd consider buying direct as they will gladly build any of their baits in whatever color configuration you like, nice folks too

I can vouch for Revenge, Pepper and Siebert -- I have all three in bluegill patterns, all nice. I also like the Siebert "Pumpkinseed" pattern.

White, Chartreuse-n-White or any combination thereof ?

My favorite bluegill spinnerbait is the white/chartreuse skirt!

When they are feeding on bluegill my favorite spinner bait is a bluegill Swim Jig with a green pumpkin trailer.

Screaming Eagle in a spot remover color by War Eagle.

@Catt and @5by3 might be on to something. I gave up fighting it... I've thrown all types colors and configurations of spinner baits, never caught a bass on a full size one. Ever. My last MTB came with a white and chartreuse dobyns spinner bait... I just caught my first 3 ever spinnerbait bass. Doesn't look like anything I've ever seen in the water there, we have no shad, but it worked. I've thrown dark spinnerbaits before trying to match my gills, maybe I'll try again with an actual green one. Either way, the white chartreuse got it done today.

The only time period I use a "blue gill" color spinninerbait is post spawn and the reason double Indiana blades is to slow it down and run it a little deeper.

Agree a white/chartreuse spinnerbait works year around.

The advantage of making your own baits is you make whatever you want. Since Tom gave up the secret I do best on this bait with double Indiana blades as well.

I only use white/red or black/red, and one of the two will work most days they are on that kind of bite.
